I agree...canon would be lost. I have mixed feelings about that because there are tons of things in the EU that I love and then there are books I absolutely despise. I think I would have been okay with much of it if Mara Jade was not killed. I really liked her character. I know people either love or hate her, but I think her death and Jacen's fall didn't make sense. I was hoping Jacen would become a rogue Jedi and a royal pain in Luke's butt, but not a sith that needed to be killed. I just thought that was an old storyline.
It is an unpopular opinion, but I would be happy if some of the favorite characters of the EU were introduced into the movie, but not necessarily the exact storylines that they were involved in. I would like to see the Solo children, Mara and Ben Skywalker, Talon Karrde, Corran and Mirax Horn, Jagged Fel...I wouldn't even mind if Boba Fett came back like he did in the books.
