The shading is amazing and the fact that you used color to make the pic more alive makes it a very interesting piece.

You could commute to a better college... the government will put funding in place for your travel if it is an issue... and then you could go to a decent college... It actually takes me around 1 and a half hours to get to college everyday... and for 3 levels you go in for 4 days a week!
Travel is expensive... but if your parents or guardians are on any kind of benefits you get it free, and even if they are not you get a major halftermly discount.

Hey, I am not from the United Kingdom like you..... The government wont give me funding for me to travel to an art school.... plus I am only 17 and still in high school, so going 4 days a week to a far away college is not really an option....
Plus I am looking for a class not a degree....
Thanks for the tip anyway....

I got a job.... I have money... That is not the issue.... The issue is that none of the collages/ universities around have an art program, there is no art school that I know of, and I live in the middle of nowhere....
Believe me, if there was something I would have found it already...

I love it great shading of the tones of the hands, it really shows which direction the light's coming from. I like the dark bit around the hands, it really makes them stand out

This has a lot of really wonderful aspects. First of all, the hand looks fantastic; it's very nicely proportioned, and the shading helps give it a pretty convincing form. I also really like texture of the dirt - It looks very realistc, and the dark value against the lighter makes a very effective contrast. The little tree growing out of the dirt also looks wonderful; I really like the splash of color the green leaves had to the otherwise monochromatic piece.
However, there are some areas that could use a little improvement. The shading in the background is one area that particularly stands out. I really like how the black outline makes the hand stand out, but the way the shading sort of stops in scribbles makes it look a little unfinished.
Also, the whiter areas of the background look a little messy; they could easily be cleaned up by continuing the darker value or using a kneaded eraser to wipe the smudges away. I think pulling the darker value out to the edges of the page would probably help make the green in the tree stand out even more - Because it's so light, the pale green doesn't quite stand out as much as it could.
I would agree with =BleeD-BlacK-SheeP about resizing the image - It is absolutely huge, and it really doesn't need to be. Usually an art piece can be view just fine within a 1000x1000 pixel size.
All in all, this does look pretty good. The shading in the hand looks wonderful, and I really like the concept; it's something different and little more thoughtful, especially in a community like deviantART. Keep up the good work!

Thankyou for the comment.
I agree with you on the black out line, I really should have worked harder on it and made it look better then that.
Also I agree about the size of it being too big, problem is I don't know how to make it smaller.
That is just the size it became after I scanned it, I did nothing to alter it since I don't know how. So this is how it came out.
Glad that over all you like it, and that you like the concept.

Do you have any image editing programs, like Photoshop? Something like that can easily resize the piece. If not, take a look at your scanning program; mine came with a feature that allows me to resize the scans and do other minor edits to the drawing.
And your welcome.

Yeah I have photoshop, I am just having a very hard time learning how to use it.... It's hopeless.
So if you say that it can be done there, then I would look into it.
Also, you are from ~TradArtCo right?
So those this mean my membership request was accepted? (Say yes, say yes, say yes..)
