there doesn't seem to be an upper limit for the pony's altitude. i could go higher forever.

Yeah, there definitely needs to be an upper flight limit. In addition, it's probably a good idea to set it so that the player and shadow are visible on-screen at all times, so you can always see how high you are. Maybe center the view on the midpoint between player and shadow to better emphasize your altitude?
Really looking good so far, Urimas et al - keep it up!

Great animation, the only comments I can make are LOL at the earthquake when ground collision occurs, but also, if you cause that earthquake while pressing down a directional key, you seem to get looked in the direction for a bit (similar to how a console controller won't work right if you're already holding down one of the analog sticks when you turn the system on). I don't know a thing about flash programming, so I wouldn't know why it happens, but since you leave these tests out to the public, thought the least I could do was effectively "beta" it. Disregard if you already knew and I'm just spouting from the mouth.

well you could be an alicorn, flying and magic, but thats only Luna and Celestia, really. But you are the games developer, so you could have a designating figure among the rank-and-file pegasi, unicorns, and earth ponies. I would kill to be an Alicorn in game.
