Wth have I done to Cinder and Ruby?!I am going to make an alternate world (called Revelance). Basically some aspects from concept, current, and my style would be used to change the image role of characters.Β
Cinder Fall- One major thing that is still intact is that she still follow through her plans. She is training to become a great huntress and seek to resolve anyones problem. (Originally in the old concept she had ribons and 'bell' sleeves) the things I changed was her hairstyle, shoes, and added a bigger and cuter bow.)
Ruby Rose- One major thing that is still intact is that her mother died and she seeks out to do something about it. In this world, her mother died when she returned back home from an outing. She became traumatized at what she saw, both her parents were dead at this time. After being traumatized she went through psychological disturbance presuming that what killed her own parents were some kind of beast (she is not sure if it was either a grimm or a white fang member), she now currently swings her scythe at grimms, white fang members, normal faunus, those who are in the way, or even those who set eyes out on her sister. She is no fun and all serious bussiness! (I kept the three color style from the original concept, and edited the hoodie so it appears more like a scarf also I added some hunting gloves.)
Hahaha this version will be as dark as I want it to be!

Nora=Neo
Pyrrha=Melanie or Malachite
Ren=Adam or maybe the White Fang lieutenant with the chainsaw

It's not that direct of a switch, its more or less switching affiliation from good to bad and vice versa.

I like how this looks and I can't help but have a lot of different thoughts cross my mind. Apologies if I ramble.
So I have the feeling in this AU, Ruby and Blake would be at each other's throats almost constantly whenever they saw each other. Blake because Ruby attacks random innocent faunus, and I assume someone like Ruby would prompt her to either stay in the White Fang, or leave it to avoid becoming the faunus equivalent of Ruby; and Ruby because Blake is/was a member of the white fang or because she is simply a faunus. Weiss, I could either see end up with ruby, assuming more terrible things happened to her because of the white fang, or end up rethinking her opinions of the white fang and faunus when she sees how Ruby is treating them, making her think they may be more justified than she once thought in their actions against humans, especially ones like this AU's Ruby.
As for Yang, it would appear from the description and Ruby's older look, that she is younger so I am curious as to how that would go. Maybe she is afraid of faunus because of what she hears from Ruby. I can see her ending up getting kidnapped/coming across Blake, and they end being friends and Ruby hunts them down and either freaks out or gets emotionally torn when she sees them together. From there I could see Ruby accidentally injuring Yang who tries to protect Blake or her seeing Blake protecting Yang, either of these leading to further emotional issues and internal conflict for Rubes.
Qrow I can see having been potentially angry at the white fang, if he didn't immediately think it was Grimm, but at this point would simply be depressed, both at the loss of loved ones, and because of what Ruby is using the training he gave her to do.
As for the staff, I can see Ozpin remaining the same, as he seems to have already lost much judging from his comments about loss, so one more (Summer Rose already being dead in the main series of course) would be unlikely to send him over the edge. I can't see much different from the rest of the staff, save perhaps being a bit more morose on occasion.
As for how I see the Darkness level, as you said it is up to you. I can see it being anywhere from Ruby being just a bully towards innocent faunus like Cardin, and extremely violent towards the white fang, to being a mass murderer of faunus, in which case, Ozpin may send hunters to try and catch her, and Qrow spends his time trying to track her down and catch her, to both stop her, and get her help.
Additionally, if Emerald, Mecrcury and Roman aren't in some way involved with Ruby, I could see them all going to Beacon and forming a team with Cinder, with the Emerald and Roman's thievery being akin to Sun's during his introduction, rather than flat out robbery and murder.
I would go further with things like team JNPR, but I think I'll stop before I go overboard.Β no matter which ways they end up going in the different outcomes I can think of, or can't think of, I think it would be interesting to see a fan-fiction of this AU, whatever the darkness level.Β

As for Yang? I drew her in another switch role picture, it's up to you to decide if Ruby is older or younger then.
Qrow, there is not enough information besides that Qrow is a teacher at Signal. With that being said, in this universe he becomes more reclusive and depressed of the loss of his family members, but rather than being irrational he is searching the cause of death.
Ozpin-he's a very neutral/good character. And so I am going to give him Fletcher's personallity (by Fletcher, I mean from Whiplash).
Ruby isn't really a bully, because often they torment, taunt, or can be sadistic. What is going on right now is that she is extremely defensive and disturbed. She doesn't taunt or tries to torment, she is more or less outbursting in fear towards them.
Emerald and Mercury would be at Beacon with Cinder. Roman would be on a different team at Beacon or another school (maybe with Adam o_O).
I haven't thought much about JNPR switching roles, but they would probably be a group of mercenaries hired by Yang or Weiss like lackies. (Time to crack out my stylus.)

Odd, I actually didn't notice the rest of them, despite looking through the gallery three times before posting. It only occurred to me after to search switch, and then after seeing them, I can't figure out how I missed them before. They most definitely seem interesting to me, especially Blake's personal position, and I can only imagine what kind of wealth Yang may have gained, and how in order to be able to hire four skilled mercenaries like JNPR.Β I have found JNPR interesting terms of having gone from B-team to secondary A-team, so I suppose it makes sense for them to end up on the same side.
So where on the sliding scale would you put this in terms of darkness? Like what i the worst you imagine each of the four having done? Apologies for further questions, unless you either don't mind or wish for more of course, but I am simply quite curious. Β I really hope you do more work on this AU to flesh it out more. But of course that is up to you whether you wish to or not, and I look forward to whatever you create.
(Side note, Β I kind of want to see Fletchers voice dubbed over clips of Ozpin now)

No nonsense and comedy for the villains, they are extremely straight forward for what they would say. On scale, I would say as dark as it can get. There will be bloodshed (characters from RWBY can die on or off screen), hate (probably if not no romance budding). I'd say I want to make it as dark as Magika Madoka Rebellion not Higurashi: very serious despite the outer appearance but hardly any hardcore gore like instestines popping out or anything like that.
Ruby breaking out of sanity because she is afraid of the world that she lives in, and so she becomes highly defensive. To her living and surviving is equivalent; it's also a nightmare after her childhood experience.
Weiss firing faunus employees because she fears the worst from them and on spare times experiment the dust product in secret lab on like 'lab rats' and grimms.
Blake forced to harm normal people and other family even though she really doesn't want to and goes through anxiety from her affiliation.
Yang at the moment feels that she cannot shake off reveange/ grudge and feels the need to rid the continent of faunus and grim alike because they will always trigger her a moment of her past in which she doesn't want to experience again.
I can't see Ozpin as Fletcher because the characteristics are nearly opposites. lol

True enough but that would be half the humour. Juxtaposition is classic and works great in some abridged series! Plus, he did throw kids off a cliff into a deadly forest as an entrance exam - hell Jaune didn't have an aura so if it weren't for Pyrrah he would have died from the fall - so he is no stranger to harsh schooling mixed with wisdom. Imagine his insults mixed with him launching students off the cliff for a wrong answer.
As for Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury, who would be the fourth member if they aren't on a team with Roman? Younger Junior? Or perhaps Young Junior would be better suited to the main AU criminal gang/ switch role AU team of Roman and Adam, if not on team with the Malachite twins.Β
I'm also guessing Weiss' 'lab rats' aren't entirely voluntary, or at least, are very uninformed as to what exactly they will be testing, and its level of safety.
Additionally just so I'm certain, Ruby attacks faunus more out fear than hatred (though there may still be hatred there), whereas Yang just hates them. Also, does Yang work with Blake, like Roman does Adam in the main universe?
And does Ruby have a near hallucinatory view of the world as nightmarish, or is it just a figuratively warped perception?

If you checked out my other drawing of Cinder, there was probably another 4th member and leader that died and probably made Cinder hold a grudge for something. So the fourth member is someone offscreen (we'll have to wait the origin of Cinder's dark behavior).

Ruby sees a little bit both, but when she becomes really scared it's mostly warped perception.

Well I had read that image's description (This one I believe ursajr.deviantart.com/art/Cind⦠), but it seemed to be theories on the main AU, so I wasn't sure if it applied to the switch role AU. I suppose it makes sense that it would, as it is both your theories and your AU, but I prefer to ask clarification or confirmation as opposed to simply assuming others thoughts, intentions, or plans, even on minor things, as I have had bad things occur due to assumptions, such as arguments and financial costs. Combined with University demanding certainty in everything I say, it has become somewhat of a habit to do so.

It's a speculation that I don't mind putting on AU. The AU has all four members alive while (my speculation) Cinder, Mercury, and Emerald are alive and the other member died.
