I woke up in the middle of the night because I had a sudden image of perching orandas, slid out of bed and drew a nearly incomprehensible squiggle on a post-it note, which fortunately included the note "orandas on a branch" or I would have had no idea what I'd been thinking.I did not realize what a grumpy looking little fish the oranda is, but man, they're one disgruntled little fish.

I LOVE their pouty little faces. I have a tank full of these guys, and now I wish they would flit around and land on things like wires, it would make life so much better.

Love the picture. They remind me of the grumpy old women on the street, always disapproving of everything everyone else does. Bar themselves, because clearly, they can do no wrong.

I wonder what a song Leonard Cohen would have written about Orandas on a Wire rather than birds. His voice is certainly dour enough to lend itself to those fish. Though frankly I would be grumpy, too, were I an aquatic being plunked on a wire in the middle of the air.
