I woke up in the middle of the night because I had a sudden image of perching orandas, slid out of bed and drew a nearly incomprehensible squiggle on a post-it note, which fortunately included the note "orandas on a branch" or I would have had no idea what I'd been thinking.I did not realize what a grumpy looking little fish the oranda is, but man, they're one disgruntled little fish.

they're probably actually like, one of those extra senses fish have for like, electrical currents and stuff, i'd guess

it could also be their brain, or a fluffy orange clown wig (which is my guess)

To the best of my understanding, they're not for anything. I believe the oranda is a variety of goldfish bred for fancy looks, and the head piece is part of that.
