War of the Worlds by far
Tom Cruise's character is an ordinary guy caught up in the middle of an invasion while keeping his kids safe, and we see the physical and mental limits he'll go to for them
Signs is just boring people waiting for stuff to happen, and when the aliens do show up, they're defeated so easily it's pathetic
