Wait a moment.... You play yourself in the SR-universe? Does this really work?
I mean, if I imagine myself in the world of ShadowRun, I would probably be doing similar things to my real life: office work, normal and boring life every day. I wouldn't give myself 5 minutes surviving in the shadows as I don't have any special abilities like magic, don't know any fighting skill, no cyberware and so on. All that sort of stuff you need to survive in the shadows. Without any of these things SR is no fun.
I would be really interested in knowing how this campaign works and what it feels like to play yourself.

yes. I did alot of time in the navy. I also was really heavy into underworld gambling, I've done some unsavery things in my lifetime to make sure I could provide for myself.

Okay, I see. In your case it definitely works playing yourself in the SR-universe *hehe*

so part of the game is learning to do these things, tis why you start level one and it has a ton of special skill sets to choose from. As you in term *level up* you can learn new skills. Lets say you wanted to get better at gun fighting, buying a gun and spending time at the gun range over time in game will garner you    handguns 1

Okay, your character learns things during the game  that you might not know in real life.
I prefer creating a Shadowrun-character by the rules who is not based on me. As my GM doesn't give us much karma, my character would take ages to learn useful skills on a useful level, if she was based on me

oh our GM is a nazi also on karma,  we play every weekend for up to 12 hours at a time and sometimes its only enough to buy one skill point if your lucky,

Sounds like more karma than we get. We play every weekend for 3-4 hours but receive only 2 karma, every time. Except if we finish the plot, then we get maybe 3-4 karma. It'll take me ages to get that 30 karma which I need to boost that resonance-attribute of my techno from 5 to 6...

If I remenber correctly (hasnt played in awhile)  Resonance and main stats require alot more karma then  skills do,

Yeah, karma costs for skill: 2x new rating.
karma costs for attribute: 5x new rating.
Attributes cost way more karma, than skills do.
But anyways, with the 2 karma we get every time, I can hardly by any skills as well. That's why I keep saving karma since ages *lol*
