In early October, the Salt Lake & Southwestern picked three locomotives to make up their First Responders fleet. On October 28th, the railroad unveiled their First Responder Tribute locomotives just in time for First Responders Day. Let's get to know them.

Valerie: An SD70ACe-T4 formerly numbered 5216, Valerie became the Police Officer tribute locomotive since she has great negotiation skills, an ability to solve problems in a quick manner, and a strong belief for justice. While she is serious and strict, Valerie still cares for her friends, her siblings, and her colleagues while also making sure that justice serves the railroad. she has earned the nickname "Officer Valerie". Her running number is a refrence to the world's first statutory police force known as the High Constables of Edinburgh which was formed in 1611

Valerie's voice actress: Tameka Empson

Blaze: An ES44AC with his running number refrencing the first American Fire Brigade established in 1736, Blaze was selected to be the Firefighter Tribute locomotive due to his leadership and teamwork skills, his integrity, and an excellent knowledge of fire safety. He may be a tough demanding GEVO with a wry sense of humor, but Blaze still has a golden heart and will never hesitate to put his life at risk to save others' lives therefore earning the nickname "Chief Blaze".

Blaze's voice actor: Ed Harris

Jesse: An SD70ACe formerly numbered 5091, Jesse was the choosen as the EMS tribute locomotive thanks to his compassion for keeping everyone safe, interpersonnal skills, and making quick decisions. Despite his strict attitude, he makes sure that nobody is getting hurt and his nicknamed "Paramedic Jesse". His running number, 1968, is a refrence to when the Gold Cross Ambulance Service was formed in 1968 to serve Salt Lake City, the home of the railroad's headquarters.
