Description

The day began nice, a slight breeze toying with the trees. But by midday the valley felt like a sauna. The humidity thick in the air, and every horse and foal was feeling the heat. There was no mistaking that summer was here.

Sol [Marcel]

"We should look for water soon, don't you think?" Sol stepped up beside his brother Marcel who was intently watching his first son with his precious Davina playing with the other foals. "That we should, gather the mares would you?" The nearly all white stallion dipped his head and trotted off.

His long legs bounded gracefully around the outskirts of the herd, heading for Mera. The splotched white and red roan mare was to mother his first foal and he could hardly contain himself. The two shared a cozy night together after her large wound had healed. Mera had made her intentions well known to the gentle stallion whom had taken great care of her.

He nuzzled her cheek then called out to the nearby mares, who all turned to head towards Marcel.

Next in his sights was Amari, the uniquely colored grullo appaloosa mare was grazing off a ways away from everyone else. He noticed she was still favoring one of her back legs, a minor injury she was lucky to get away with during the wolf pack's attack.

"She really fancies you." The words where cool and calm as she lifted her head, looking ahead and not meeting Sol's gaze. "Ah," he felt twinge of guilt, but quickly pushed it away. What did he have to be guilty of? "I suppose so. Anyways, how are you feeling?"

"I've had better days, that's for sure. But I'll be fine." Amari turned her icy blue eyes on Sol, her smile full of warmth. His chest fluttered, seeing her smile at him made him feel wonderful...

Jace

"It's a bloody hot one, it is. Silo how are you hanging in there?" The overo grullo stallion stood next to his nearly solid black companion as they both looked out on the valley from a hilltop with a single large tree. "Black coats are not the best for this kind of weather, but I will be alright. I would enjoy a cool soak, though, what do you say Jace?"

"Reckon!"

Both set out towards a nearby watering hole.

Marcel

It wasn't long before Marcel and the herd came across a large pond. A few other horses and some bachelors where already at the watering hole quenching their thirst and playing in the water. Marcel and Sol stepped up to the plate to chase off the potentially dangerous stallions. Their herd was bigger and with many foals to care for, so not many cared to argue with the two large stallions, except for a silver bay bachelor. He stood his ground and pawed at Marcel, but a quick nip to the hide sent him on his way as well.

Once all the potential threats had retreated or been chased off the mares and all eight foals trotted happily down to the water. Amari walked into the water far enough and laid down, the cool refreshing soak was just what her sore leg needed. Sol eagerly followed her, laying down in the water nearby. Mera noticed Sol following Amari, she watched him closely jealously seeping up her throat for a moment before flicking it away and going to stand near Davina as she drank nearby.

China and Renae both had their hooves full as both mares had had twins, double the trouble. China had also noticed her oldest daughter, Caiying, was coming of age and straying farther and farther from her mothers side. It would not be long now, China did not feel mentally prepared to part with her daughter, or any of her babies, but such was life. And when the time would come, she would be strong.

Lewa [Marcel]

The largely build yet young of age mare was coming into her first season. She wished to confide in one of her spotted friends, but Shea had her hooves full with her first foal and Fae had been quick to secure her time with the herd's handsome leader Marcel. She felt embarrassed to address the older stallion, especially now when he spent so much of his time with Davina and their colt Troy. All the foals looked so adorable...

It wasn't long before a fellow spotted coat caught her eye. He was gazing over the mares at the watering hole from the safety of the hilltop, partially concealed by bushes. Lewa stood a short way off from the herd, eagerly meeting his bright blue eyes with her own. He perked up, but dared not approach while the lead stallion was nearby. She turned to see that both Marcel and Sol where distracted, and trotted up the hill to greet him. Upon closer inspection this bachelor was indeed handsome, young like herself, with a quirky yet charming smile.

She stepped past the young grey grullo stallion, flicking her tail sending an alluring scent to his nostrils. He lightly rubbed his soft spotted nose along her flank, an electricity of excitement coarsed through her and Lewa kicked up her heals barely missing the stallions head.

Lewa trotted down the other side of the hill and out of sight from her herd with the grey grullo spotted bachelor eagerly followed her.

Wuhan [Marcel]

The small sooty grullo colt trotted after his twin sister and mother China until a sound caught his attention from behind them. He turned on his heals to see the grullo spotted mare Lewa seemingly fighting some strange horse.This was his moment, even though he was barely weaned off his mother's milk he wanted to prove himself a strong colt and save the damsel in distress. He glanced back to see his sister bounding up the their mother as China was distracted by something else happening on the far side of the pond. With everyone distracted, Wuhan slipped off after the two spotted horses however the two where much larger then himself and thus slipped out of sight before he even reached the crest of the hill.

No matter...he would sniff them out! Lewa was in trouble, and he was going to save her!

But...soon he found himself lost and alone, surrounded by tall trees and many bushes and shrubs that limited his view. Now he was the one in trouble and in need of saving, with the sun setting a long foal would not far well.

Jace

When the two emerged from the nearby forest they took in the sight of the pond, which was already completely overrun by another much larger herd.

"Oh wow, that is truly a sight to behold. Look at all those colors, so much white. Oh Jace, look at all the foals...six, eight, eight of them oh my." Silo's stated with her soft monotone voice.

"Are ya jealous, mate?" Jace asked, tilting his head as he looked over the numerous mares below.

"I am not familiar with that feeling, so probably not. I think it is more so admiration. Yes, I admire them but I also admire myself as I am."

"You really are an odd one love, but I reckon I am too..." Jace's voice trailed off when his blue eyes caught sight of a bright grullo mare with interesting stripes he had never seen before, and as she turned her head in his direction he saw her nearly white face, a beautiful contrast against the rest of her coat. "What a beauty!" He exclaimed, perking up and daring to venture closer to her. Silo remained on the hill until she noticed a small foal taking off over the hill seemingly on his own. After a couple moments, when no other horse seemed to be going after him Silo decided she should at least see to it that he is safe. Jace was distracted at the time, successfully making his way to the pretty grullo splash mare and attempting to sway her his way.
