Description
04/13/07Near Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and I-75, Atlanta, Georgia
Foreground is Ford Motor Factory and airplane is a Delta flight (of course-- what else is in our skies)
So I admit this looks nothing like what came out of my camera. I've been going a little post process crazy recently. (and all those film freaks start the seizures)
Pushed this thing from an in camera color temperature of 5700 to 12500. Pulled exposure a stop and pushed shadow contrast by 100 in RS to bring out the clouds and create silhouettes of the industrial landscape. Then I applied FM's amazing Velvia Vision plugin in PS. Oh and and crop to take out the highway and cars. Hehh-- I shot this while driving. Had the camera sitting next to me from shooting a location for an NPO so I grabbed it and madly shot out the window without taking my eyes off the road or my hand off the wheel. Hoping that there might be something to play with later on. Well I'd say it worked.
Edit: Thanks to `gilad for featuring this in his journal!

Well I live there. Been there for 5 years now, but I don't feel like I'm a native there. I've moved around a lot.

It's amazing what you can do with what started out as a 'simple' photo. Love it as it is. Don't change anything

I love airplanes, and I love silhouette working. I really don't mind you've edited heavily, it creates a wonderfull (almost) fantasy kind of idea here. Marvellous, and just amazing. You've cropped this well also!

Hmm I think you're right.
I tend to do that. Too many nights editing for a newspaper. You gotta really push the USM to get any detail on the low quality prints.

Does quality really matters for the papers? I mean as in details. I have seen many newspapers that shoot news like crap.

Of course it matters. This isn't a question about newspapers anymore but a question about the strive for excellence.
Lemme guess -- Nihilist?

Surreal. Although it is nice to be able to get it perfect when shooting, I personally feel that all that matters is the end result. That is after all what being an artist is about. Nice work!
