Silly old tree, this is why everyone hates you!Making people go through that (extremely easy) dungeon and then revealing you could've just as well sat outside and picked your nose for the time being!
Anyway I was replaying OoT the other day and suddenly this idea popped up in my head, but I'm sure it has been done 3 million times already, but blegh.

Eh, I enjoy getting an extra dungeon and boss to fight. But my guess is that even though Link was the chosen one, he still needed to be put through a test.

that part of the game sucked huge testies!! i was in there just like, hackin' and slashin' away at everything. it toke me a while to beat gohma and then all of a sudden i come back throught the portal and i find out he was dead from the start! i burned my N64 and yelled "witch! this game be'th a witch!" into my neighborhood

The Master Quest version is more challenging and is how the Deku Tree should've been. But alas, you still have him die.

Heehee, yeah it did seem pointless to save the Deku Tree! Although I think it was a test to see if Link was brave and noble enough to save the rest of Hyrule. Great comic!
