Description Little waterfall in Frakto forest, Drama

This amazing place still resonates in my dreams. When i got there i couldn’t believe what i was seeing, so much beauty, so much color. I have only uploaded 2 or 3 photos of this trip even though it was back in 2011, mostly because i couldn’t decide on how to post-process the photos. The colors are already very saturated without any edit and back then i had a Canon 450D with the 18-55mm kit lens which was failing all the time, shutting down when taking a long exposure so i didn’t take the photos i could have taken. I don’t think i’ll be able to visit this place soon, it’s very far away and hard to reach so i thought to start working on some photos that are kinda good. What do you think about this one? I’d appreciate any feedback

Thank you! I had a hard time to edit this series of photos...The colors were naturally very saturated and i didn't want it to end up looking fake...

very nice! sounds like an amazing place. Too often i see landscape photos post processed way too much using the hdr method. But this is nicely done, with just the right amount of detail--especially on the rocks. The only thing i would've tried doing, is taking a long exposure of the waterfall so that it appears to be very soothing and mist-like. Long exposures of water are always nice

Thank you for your comment Well this photo is not an HDR, it was a single raw file processed in Lightroom. I opened up the shadows, brought down the highlights, cranked up the clarity and contrast and then in Photoshop i just added a little glow to it. The intensity of the colors was pretty much my main concern because the colors were naturally intense and i didn't want it to look fake. You are right about the long exposure, it always helps water scenes look nicer I wish i could have done that back then. This photo was taken in 2011 and i didn't have a tripod back then, it was a handheld shot. I really loved this place and it does annoy me that i couldn't take the photos i envisioned then because of equipment limitations. I hope i can go back there soon

Ah my mistake! I mistook the clarity and glow for hdr (either way you get what i was saying). Well either way, nice place and great job on keeping the colors real!

It's ok! It does look hdrish, i can understand that, almost all my photos are HDR indeed. I had actually taken 3 bracketed shots so i could make an hdr of this scene too but the result is terrible no matter how subtle i try to make it look. The colors just go crazy... So i used a single raw file and it worked out a lot better. The current camera raw software offers so much room in recovering highlights and lifting shadows, it's just unbelievable. In 2011 i wouldn't be able to get this result

This is gorgeous, I am jealous you have access to such prettiness to photograph. Here in Aus the scenery is much more monotone; yellows, browns and darker greens.

Thank you! Well, same here, central and south Greece are very monotonous too, i had no idea a place like this could exist. It's on the very north-east side of Greece and it's really hard to access. I was lucky enough to be part of a photography group that arranged this trip and we stayed one night there. I really really want to go there again but it's far from the place i live and i have no car to go by myself

I see! Still, congratulations on being able to take advantage of such a gorgeous location. I would need to get on a plane to see something like that

This is what it looks like an hour east and north of Perth

Maybe taking a plane and jumping out of it with a parachute would actually be a nice and easy way to access this forest By car it's a very strenuous drive, the dirt road that you need to take goes on for several hours, it's in a really bad condition and full of steep turns. I understand, the area you live looks almost like a desert...i guess it's somewhat better here, at least we have a forest even though it's only Pine trees and a sea close by, it does great a more interesting scenery. That's the typical forest area around here: v-light.deviantart.com/art/A-w… . The trees always stay dark green...We don't have the amazing red and orange leaves...No waterfalls or anything like that also...
