First of all, you should understand what character is supposed to be. If Flippy is often drawn as stereotypical bishie, it totally doesn't mean this is right humanization design for him.

And then, Flip is not average bishie. He is soldier. So please, draw him that way. If you can't come with own ideas - you should at least copy decent designs.
