Description
the three esk, encouraged by the currents, drifted over the expansive coral reef for a long while. fish darted and danced all around them joyfully, pushing them to deliver the little lost coin nestled in the light one's fur to where it belonged. after some time they noticed they had left behind the boundaries of the reef, passing the outer edges of greying corals until their eyes were met with a desolate landscape before them. the water pushed ripples into the loose sand and chunks of stone and wood were embedded within. as far as the eye could see, nothing seemed to move other than the watery light on the ocean's floor. no fish, no animal claimed this wasteland as their home. what had happened here was a mystery, but perhaps not all hope was lost. looking around them, they noticed small bits of flora peeking out from behind rocks, kelp and seagrasses lazily drifting and catching the weak sunlight, hiding but alive. perhaps this place may be no home now, but the ocean will tend to this tiny garden of life so it may flourish grandly once again. while admiring the persistence of life, a strange shape caught their eyes, and the three went to investigate. in the center of it all, a single stone fountain rest, cracked with age, algae claiming the sides, crumbling away in its watery grave. how it got there, none of these spirits knew.
[destroy it] the dark esk seethed [man's touch has ruined everything. look around you!]
[but look!] the pale one exclaimed [there is something inside]
[this lost creation of man may be a home to others now] the swimmer spoke [but this one does not belong here]
the fluffy one let the coin drift into the basin, and the ocean sang its gratitude.
out of the basin from where the coin was dropped, a small creature darted out and came to rest on the lip of the fountain. the flippered esk drifted over, recognizing this animal. it certainly did not belong in this desolate expanse, and it called for help.
[this one is missing its friend]

used palette X for this submission! what a fun one! ;D these challenges are very helpful for learning values. i'm also just now realizing i could probably add up all the writing segments i've done for each path for extra points. i'll probably do that later.
featuring Cadence, Talvi, and Professor! :]
