This reminds me of a walk one night in the fog. I came upon a canal and a breeze blew the fog a bit so I could see the water and it startled me to see a submarine docked there. Great effect the cat shows being startled.Β

hey! not sure... must be ancient stuff. some chests may contain just clothes and water-soaked books and documents. but in some chests there are gold-coins, little creepy figurines made out of fingernails,silver-spoons and magic mirrors and lamps.

hmm, water-soaked books - what a waste, I love books,Β figurines made out of findernails? - brrrrr, magic mirrors - wow,Β I guess, what could they do...,Β andΒ what about a magic pearl which allows you to become a creepy mermaid, or something like that? That would be cool

Everyone's seeing such deep and meaningful visuals, I feel I must contribute....
I like the pulley/winch. With that narrow window, it serves almost no purpose what-so-ever. I can see why the owner felt so embarrassed, they felt obliged to tuck it away.
Joking aside, I've always loved your stuff. Your work always demands scrutiny and a back fill of story. Can never just glance and move on.

viel mehr Story in diesem zu dem ersten - und die Fischhaut ist auch sehr viel besser.
ich mag die fast steril wirkende Stadt im Hintergrund - frag nicht warum, aber es erinnnert mich an russische Phantastik...

Creepy but cool at the same time. I am a little confused though, since the water has a pavement texture which makes the water look very shallow.... but then big fish head. *very confused*

thanks alot! maybe i should work a bit more on the water-reflections then. it was not supposed to look shallow!

XD welcome! (although, thinking back, it COULD be deliberate to make it even more 'spooky'.)

I remember your previous version of the painting too. This new one is technically much better (clearer colors, better details), but when considering perspective and point of view, I prefer the old one Old one had wider area to look and it was not constrained by the arcs. And, well, despite robustness, the fish-creature also looked a bit more original in the old work. But that's just my opinion

yeah- the old version "big fish" got its own flair. also still like it a lot. i think this new one tells an "deeper" story though.

The subtle nuances of the cat, the opaque silhouettes and throne-like pile of chests really imbues this piece with the sense of a larger story. It reminds me of an parallel universe Venice where whales roam the canals alongside the tour boats.
