Description --::Accessing United Nations Department of Emergency Response, Xenoform Database Alpha Kai, Registered Kaiju::--

Classification:
Ultraspecies, Tyrant Class

Callsign: Ursa Major

Common Name: Ganuuk

First Seen: Arctic Ocean
Last Seen: Antarctic Ocean

Primary Range: Global Distribution, Prefers Colder Climates

Dietary Preference: Magnetic Energy

Official Description: The first kaiju to appear in modern day, and perhaps the most dangerous. Subject is bipedal, mammalian in appearance and clad in full body, organic Ascalite plating, indicative of Okutan engineering. Natural weapons such as claws and teeth are capable of rending through most known substances, and its magnetic abilities' true limits are still being tested after decades of regular encounters. Entire nations have been destroyed by this creature, and its emergence is never welcomed, even in the most dire and apocalyptic of circumstances. While active, all surrounding civilization will experience electrical failure and magnetic distortion effects, including extreme temperature fluctuations and metal objects being launched vast distances at extreme velocity. Subject is also known to enter extended hibernatory states after expending great amounts of energy, and has proven highly difficult to remove from wherever it decided to rest. Entire economic regions have been forced to relocate from its resting places, causing untold damages on multiple fronts.

Defense Protocols: Should a sighting be confirmed, all available assets within a 300 mile radius of its current location are to be activated. Its magnetic abilities make most antiquated ballistic weaponry counter-effective, but recent developments in non-metallic weapons have proven effective in short term deterrance. Total destruction of organism deemed improbable and too costly to attempt. Recommended strategy: Lure to appropriately sized, contained body of water and trap it below the surface via cryogenic bombing. Subject will succumb to environmental stimuli after sustained assault and enter a state of torpor, and will remain in stasis until forcibly awakened. Astran deployment not recommended.

Civilians are to be evacuated at least 300 kilometers away from its current location, there is no point in taking shelter with this creature's abilities. ((This is true))

Noteworthy Abilities:

-Magnetic Distortion: An ability poorly understood even by the creature itself, Ganuuk's Ascalite core is capable of immense magnetic fluctuations, and the exact limits of this are not known. This ability is costly to the kaiju's energy reserves, but its multitudinous applications, from things as simple as making its own claws longer, stretching  and more dense to things as immense as weaponizing entire cities, have made short work of many enemies. It appears, according to so called 'kaiju behaviorists,' that it's still learning how to wield this ability.

-Organic Metal Hide: As with all Tyrant classified kaiju, Ganuuk's skin and bones are laced not just with hyper-dense carbon, but also with traces of the alien made alloy known as Ascalite, which was made for the purposes of interstellar travel. Very few known materials can compete with this material, and it makes it just that much more frightening a combatant to sapients and ultraspecies alike.

Behavioral Observations:

-When not in combat, subject has been observed largely in a state of lethargy, and typically will remain in one place until conditions no longer support it, in which it will silently and promptly move on.

-Shows non-aggression towards other, typically smaller kaiju when encountered, but rarely engages in any way beyond eye contact. Ones of approximately equal size and above are usually met with threat displays. In spite of earlier assumptions, it appears the subject is not temperamental in nature, and takes significant aggression to provoke into combat. Once combat is initiated, however, it will not stop until the enemy is no longer moving.

-Does not target urban areas unless baited and directed, and prefers remote, tundra regions when left to own devices. Proximity-induced temperature drops are frequent, which has led to increase in climate control regulation.

-Subject avoids anywhere with a stronger magnetic field, be it natural or man-made. Combat applications are being researched.

EDITORIAL: Hello all, and thank you in advance for reading what I hope will be a highly enlightening experience. If you are in a place that values freedom of information, I have quite the gift, and if not, then for the sake of your own life please read and download these while you can. I cannot promise how long it will be before the powers that be realize exactly what has been done here and attempt to silence me.

My name is Francis Womack, you can call me Frank, and I have made it my life's goal to document the exact order of events of how we as a species lost our dominion over the earth. Yes, I have for your consideration a series of detailed dossiers, including visual files, scientific analysis and military discourse pertaining to the numerous giant monsters that have laid claim, and waste, to our world. There's not a soul on earth that hasn't at least seen footage of one, and more are emerging every year. I've been on the front line for most of it, from near the very beginning, and for those I wasn't there for, I've obtained interviews with those who were. Though many in charge will say that there is no cause for concern and the 'monster menace' is no longer a real danger, I assure you that is not the case, and if you know anything of me and my personal beliefs on these creatures, you know just how much gravity what I say comes with.

We are not rulers of the earth anymore. Whether that's good or bad is a matter of opinion. But that doesn't mean pointless loss of life due to lack of available information is justified. And with that said, let me start by warning you of the biggest fish in the proverbial pond. The Great White North himself, who brought low entire global superpowers of the smaller world.

Not to say the tragedies of this century were welcomed, but to be entirely honest, we kind of had them coming. The last 200 years have been... well we haven't exactly done everything with our own longevity in mind. We just never expected to be held accountable for it, or suffer such malicious consequences. But perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's start at the beginning.

The year was 2044. Humanity was in between phases of its existence, shedding a corrupt, old mindset of greed and attempting to forge a new one. We'd been through a couple of ecological crises, entire nations sinking into the rising oceans, and survived a brief encounter with a robot apocalypse. More on that another day. But we'd cleaned up our act. We were building greener than ever, our resource consumption was down, and progress was our measure of success rather than riches. But it turns out the bell still had a toll for us and our past.

It began on a calm July morning. I was too young to remember much of it besides a lot of confusion on the Tru-Vision. But it began with unusual, out of season snowfall in northern Ontario. Not impossible, but still incredibly unlikely. There were no surviving eyewitnesses that I know of, but that snowfall grew in intensity, eventually becoming a massive winter storm, the kind far bigger than even the era of climate denial could bring. The weirdest part was just how sparse coverage of any details were. We knew the entire great lakes area had gone completely silent, but that was about it. When the proverbial smoke cleared, Toronto, Ottowa, and Detroit were all almost completely destroyed, and Lake Erie was now a quarantine zone, with a massive sheet of ice on it that never seemed to go away. For several years, that was all the average citizen knew. That scenario sounds familiar to many, I'm sure. A lot of world leaders still haven't learned their lesson from this, the very first incident.

For what actually happened, well, you'd have to talk to one of the soldiers present for the incident. You've probably seen his face before. James Horvath, leader of UNDER, protector of man? Well he was once James Horvath, United States Special Forces, and this incident was his hero's journey. Or his descent into Ahab-esque madness, depending on who you ask. You'll have to accept a lot of grays in this account.

According to him, the monster was known to all involved world powers, almost immediately. It apparently had all but destroyed the infrastructure of a powerful isolationist country called Russia before this. They had warnings, and when it emerged, the military forces of both the United States and Canada were deployed, but they got in each other's way too much to ever do anything properly, and the loss of life from the incident, the entire cities frozen to death, was all on them. It only ended because he disobeyed direct orders and banded together with a small group from JT3 and a lone Spetznaz rogue ((great guy)) to bury the monster beneath the ice it was creating as it marched across lake Erie. Thank whatever god out there that it worked. I can understand the incompetence, after all we had no precedent for anything like it, and thankfully very few kaiju deliver anywhere near the level of damage Ganuuk did. Our nations were once used to being unstoppable, but the rules changed. We were dealing with something objectively stronger than the best we could dish out.

But, thankfully, even it wasn't immune to natural causes, and for more than a decade it slept underneath the ice it's own abilities were making. But it was later awoken, by the exact same man, to save the world. More on that story in... two files.

Ever since, we've had to keep an eye out for the great white bastard. He's not the worst thing we've ever encountered, but boy, he's a heavyweight contender. He destroys old style cities at a level we can barely process, and modern means of stopping him do very little besides tire him out to the point where he just drops and takes a long rest. He's been there for most of the big events, and things tend to end rather quickly once he gets involved. He scares me, all of the Tyrants do. They weren't like the other kaiju, genetic anomalies of happenstance. They were weapons, built by an ancient race that ground our ancestors under their heels to destroy everything in their path with ridiculous prejudice. And that very same prejudice is what made Doctor Kensuke Okiura decide to wake him up and unleash him, and by extension the rest of them, on us.

Does that name sound familiar? I should hope so, and I hope it inspires fear. I'll talk more of him later, but know this. Our efforts at peace, making our world a better place, cleaning up our past before Ganuuk emerged? Well, it wasn't 'according to plan.' In order to save us from what he considered the greatest threat to our world, the Syyd aliens that nearly rendered earth inhospitable to all native life, he awoke a lesser one, born from another era of myth and legend. The kaiju, he called them, but I'm pretty sure I don't need to go into detail about either of those terms. What I can say is that to survive either threat, we couldn't be fat and decadent, suckling on ecological peace and prosperity. We needed an enemy, one that would force us to grow and be responsible with our power. I kind of hate the fact that it's mostly worked.

But anyway, I hope you all stay safe, and take my words to heart. Ganuuk is a rare threat these days, but its capable of great harm. Get as far away from the danger as you are able, and if not, well, stay safe and hug your loved ones close. Survive. We've taken enough losses.

---------------------------------------------

Howdy all! Vagrant-Verse here, after a several month absence. What can I say, life changes aren't always smooth, sometimes they're a train wreck. An adorable, exhausting one year old son of a train wreck that led to a lot of necessary changes in work, home and everything in between. Some hobbies have had to be reallocated, it's just the way of things. But I can say that these months have not been without planning or thought for how to continue this series. Well, by continue, I mean 'start again with the new, refined plot I've been working on for several months now.' I know that might disappoint some of you, but I believe this new incarnation will be much stronger. And honestly, it's been almost four years since the last version started, I think that's long enough to develop an objective opinion of your work. And my old beginning, my original goal? It no longer aligns anywhere near what I want to do with these characters and creatures. Starting with a brand new, spanking look for the flagship monster, Ganuuk! (Fun fact, people were calling him Giganuuk but shortened it organically in public vernacular over the years)

Either way, you're getting new kaiju from me! This won't be a direct repeat of my original continuity, there will be some very obvious changes almost immediately. Either way, hope you all have as good a holiday season as you can! I'll be uploading new content when I can!

Nice to see you back, Jared. Yeah, I've seen your son on Facebook, he looks so cute, but I bet he's a handful.

Anyway, so you are starting over again? Oh well, that's fine. Hell, considering how many times I've changed my kaiju, this isn't a big deal for me. Gannuk looks pretty awesome and like his abilities. Love to see what else you got in store for the Fathom universe.
