Description
From the Files of Frank Womack, Kaiju Expert*Kaiju File # 006
Grorn (Grawrn)
First Seen: Somalian Coastline, Africa
Last Seen: Amsterdam, the Netherlands (Current Location Unknown)
Primary Range: None
Dietary Preference: Unknown
Description: Consult Fathom File 006.0 and Fathom File 006.1 for a basic summary of Grorn's past observed abilities. Specifics Below:
-The form of Grorn dubbed the Gaia stage is on the small side compared to most past observed forms, with a distinctly spherical appearance that seems to effortlessly float several meters off the ground. It's body is composed of the same fibrous, plant like material and lines with the familiar blue crystals, but unlike the previous two documented forms, these are much more malleable, and its primary form of offense involves stretching these crystals out of it's body in long, fuzzy green limbs that it can use as bludgeons or as conduits for Mana rays. The central 'head' remains, this time in an even more minimalistic state, resembling the beak of a cephalopod squished down.
Defense Protocols: Consult Fathom File 006.0 for this information.
Noteworthy Abilities: Consult Fathom File 006.0 for shared abilities between forms. Distinctions to this form located below.
-Hovering: The means of this, as with most of Grorn's arsenal, are unknown, but Grorn has been observed climbing and descending from various altitudes with no sign of traditional locomotion. Those in close proximity felt no atmospheric or gravitational disturbance emanating off of the mysterious lifeform, which raises further questions about the methods. At this point many are just throwing their hands up and calling it magic.
-Mana Pulse: The most iconic of Grorn's abilities, as well as its most frightening. It begins when the crystals atop its body begin to glow, and the world around it begins to change. Plants wilt, birds fall out of the sky, people experience several decades worth of aging, all in seconds. Grorn is able to drain the life-force of any unaltered terrestrial lifeform into itself, channeling that energy into one of the deadliest attacks any known kaiju possesses. Depending on its form, the delivery changes, (in the gaia form's case, this is achieved by a needle thin laser channeled out of the bottom crystal spire) but the result is the same, the area is whited out in a bright light and a deafening shockwave, leaving a smoldering crater and, typically, no remains. Few things have survived this attack, and those that have rarely surface on earth. After utilizing this, Grorn typically returns to the earth to rest, as much of its reserves can be expended in the attack.
AUTHOR'S NOTES: When last we left our precious surviving kinfolk... the Syyd, terraforming, hive minded plantiforms from outer space, were beginning to experience setbacks. They had come to the earth eons ago with the intent of removing its native population, collecting their genetic material first, and altering the atmosphere to sustain another sort of life. What that life was, we could only guess, the Syyd themselves seemed just fine in our atmosphere so it clearly wasn't for their own sake. But we didn't have much time or resources to devote to figuring out their masters or clients or whatever you'd call them. We were running out of air, we needed to stop them first. And we thankfully had help in the form of the kaiju that had been ravaging us for almost a decade. Though I feel I must emphasize the word 'had,' as they all just suddenly vanished in a burst of light, many of them mid-battle with the various Syyd defensive castes. The reactions were immediate, most people exclaiming that the alien overlords had arrived. But we quickly were corrected when a familiar green light appeared above the Paris skyline.
It was a moment every screen on the planet blasted for weeks afterward. It was as if a rift in space itself opened and in a swirling flash of bright light, the familiar verdant shape of Grorn appeared, for the first time in years. It looked different, though. It had a spherical shape, 50 meters across, with multiple, constantly shifting tendrils that slowly moved around like ever-observant eyestalks. And then the lasers came. The Syyd had infested the area, and our ever impartial protector was very quick to dispatch them. And it didn't stop there, the mysterious being vanished as quickly as it came and appeared hundreds of miles away in Ireland to do the same thing. Then it went to the Congo, Russia, Vietnam and many more, vaporizing the stalks and their defenses from the air. They had no defenses for this, these plantlike monsters could only fight up close, and Grorn seemed intimately aware of this from the start.
Worldwide, climate scientists were seeing things already starting to improve, our oxygen levels were climbing back closer to previous estimates. Many thought the solution had finally come. But alas, the Syyd weren't done yet. They had a couple of big aces remaining up their fibrous sleeves...

Hope your holidays were swell, everybody! Mine sure have been! And for those who enjoy this series, you'll be happy to know that the last few files of Season One are all ready and will be posted before the years end!
Grorn has returned to the field of play, and good thing too! With all the Syyd have left to throw at us, we'll need all the help we can get!

Damn, Grorn really does some changes. I have to admit that the story you have is the biggest draw here.
