There is a special mountain in the German Harz called the Blocksberg or Brocken, where the witches meet!

They tought you German at school...I didn't know they do so!
I always thought nobody would care about the German language outside Europe

ive always wanted to learn it
yes we were taught it, or at least were attempted to be taught it. all we really did was watch ice age and shrek in german haha i still want to learn it

Ice Age in German is great! The German voice of Sid is a famous comedian called Otto Walkes. He is very funny - the best one they could find for Sid.
By the way: If you want to learn it: German grammar is a bi*** - even most Germans are not really able to use it properly. Ok, at university some can do it if they want to

yeah the grammar is a big thing that turned the class off from understanding it. i dont understand why languages have gender specific endings for words or anything like that. my german teacher tried to say that german was easier than english, and i dont think so.
sure german words have a lot in common with english, but thats as far as it goes haha

I think English is far easier! Only Latin or French are in some cases even worse than German in grammar stuff

i cant imagine anything being more difficult than german..maybe russian haha

Valdkynd In reply to JustinDeRosa [2010-04-30 21:49:33 +0000 UTC]
No, Russian is not that difficult. You have to learn new letters and after that it is not that hard. I don't know if it is true, but my Russian speaking friends said so

they could be joking haha who knows. idk it looks difficult because of the weird letters. did you learn english in school?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Valdkynd In reply to JustinDeRosa [2010-05-01 11:51:19 +0000 UTC]
Yes, in Germany we learn English in every school (depends on the type of school...some learn only for 5 years...some for 7 or 9 years). I had English (9 years) and French (5 years) in school - Latin (1 year)and Middle high German (Medieval German) in University. I still want to learn some more other languages, but I presently don't have the time.

yeah i thought thats what i heard. thats a lot of languages. sounds better that way here in the US, at least in our school district, its mandatory you take a year of spanish and also french. its not like you can really learn a language in that time. what other languages would you like to learn?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Valdkynd In reply to JustinDeRosa [2010-05-01 20:24:43 +0000 UTC]
Only one year each? Sounds not really useful...but ok, the US is a large English speaking country, in Europe almost every country has his own language...Swiss has got even 4 (German, French, Italian and Rhaeto-Romanic...) and Belgium 3 (German, Dutch and French).
I maybe want to learn Spanish, a Scandinavian language, a Celtic language and Czech. I think I'll try at least one of them

JustinDeRosa In reply to Valdkynd [2010-05-02 05:15:10 +0000 UTC]
yeah its not useful thats why i didnt learn anything.
spanish is too generic for me. scandinavian sounds cool. and so does a celtic language. i wouldnt mind learning farsi either!

This is so beautiful. I wonder how you could capture it like that. You know, with it so tiny and clear and the tree in the background bigger and softer. I know nothing about photography....(yet... ) This amazes me what you can do with the camera. Bravo! Lisa...

I had to lay me down to get this capture and had to be very close to the ground and directly in front of the flower It was not so easy, but I'm so glad you like it, thank you!
