Description
The ship's overall design is based on the Shepard-class ship "U.S.S. Gagarin" from Star Trek: Discovery. Since I saw the ship for the first time on screen, it was – for me – one of the most likeable designs of all the different Starfleet vessels from that series.So I took the Gagarin and designed my own late 24th/early 25th century ship.

See, most of the designs in STD work well as 24th/25th cent ships in style and size, so why didn't they just make a post Nemesis show?

I actually disagree. They lack the elegant refinement of the Galaxy class, or the sleek curves of the Sovereign and Vesta class. If I were to redesign the Shepard for the late 24th Century-STO era, it would likely have far more in common with those, and the saucer might even be replaced outright with a spear-shaped hull.
