That DOF is saintly.

Well done!

Thanks
Can you believe I shot this in manual focus without a tripod?

Seriously? SERIOUSLY?

But . . . that's cheating.

Yep, I'm serious
In fact, I didn't think it would turn out this good

I'm about to head out for my morning hike. My macro lens is primed and ready. Now, if I can find something that isn't DEAD, I will be trying to focus stack it. We will see how that turns out.

But I won't be freehanding like a boss, as you would do.

Good luck! I'll be waiting for the results of your hike
You might find beauty in death, too. Just keep your eyes open
What's your macro lens?

You're going to have to wait a little bit longer. I screwed it up today. Well, I take that back. I partially screwed it up. The wind took care of the rest.

I'm using a 100mm f/2.8 as my macro. If I'm right, I need to shoot at about f/8.0 and the camera DOES NOT need to move. Right?

Well the camera not moving would definitely be a huge plus
I usually shoot indoor, so I've never really dealt with wind. But in macro stillness is fundamental with that shallow DOF, so you might want to try again another day, when the wind is down, or (if you can) take your subject indoor and go crazy with it

Well, it probably didn't help that I was hiking in a place called "Wind Creek".

. . . probably should've thought about that. . . .

I know for sure I would have never seen it coming.

haha Since there are already too many colorful "feather+drop+glitter" around, I figured I'd do something different

Tu hai la capacità di rendere ogni singolo scatto così interessante da poterlo osservare per molto tempo, come fosse un paesaggio ricco di dettagli, invece spesso è un dettaglio solo il tuo soggetto! Bravissimo!
