Description
Still having some gripes with the costume (now this mostly translates to the trousers coming up too short and baggy, I'd say I've gotten used to the rest), I decided it'd be a novel idea to try my hand at radically redesigning the costume, but keeping common motifs of the original outfit. I was heavily inspired in particular by June Hudson's 1980 redesign of Tom Baker's costume (which went on to inspire I believe, the mindset which lead to Matt Smith's purple costume), as well as Colin Baker's blue costume. The mindset June was in whilst designing Tom's last costume was she wanted to maintain the same basic look of Tom's Doctor whilst having a heavily colour coordinated focus and redesigning pretty much everything. Instead of merely wanting to dull down the colours Whittaker already wears, I decided I too wanted to adopt this approach, of pretty much covering her head to toe in a brand new colour coordinated colour scheme. Tom's chosen colour was burgundy and purple, Colin's chosen colour was blue (plus Jude Hudson actually designed a black variant which was never used), Matt's chosen colour was purple, and I thought Jodie would pull off green really rather nicely. Her trousers in particular I feel look better when lit as a more turquoisy greener blue, and I took this to the extreme pretty much. I also thought the green could represent a maturing and calming down of her character that could potentially take place in later series, much like the other colour changes was to varying degrees supposed to represent the same things for other Doctors. So without further ado, here's what I changed:* I made the hood bigger and longer overall, and had it drape over her shoulders more.
* I made the "collar" or inside of the coat more angular, inspired by a cosplay promotional picture of a 13th Doctor jacket for sale, I mostly did this to help further differentiate it from the standard jacket as well as make it look more structured.
* I made this "collar"/inside of the coat go all the way down to the bottom of the coat, quite like Colin Baker's coat collar in that respect.
* I increased the length of the coat.
* I added dark cuffs to the sleeves of the coat.
* I slimmed down the trousers somewhat, gave her socks that went much higher up and the trousers button at the bottom, in exactly the same way that Tom Baker's do in The Leisure Hive; I felt this solved the problem of the bare ankle being on display whilst staying true to the original design.
* I added dark pockets to the side of the coat, which matches the cuffs.
* I changed pretty much all the colours. I gave the coat a grey-green finish which is darker than Whittaker's current pure grey coat. I changed the inside of the coat from dark blue to dark green, and added this same motif to the cuffs. The trousers I played around with, I've given her a brighter teal like green for the trousers to give the same dynamic as her current bright blue trousers, as well as having played around with a more olive grey-green pair of trousers too. The socks use greens instead of the current blues. The boots remain brown and the shirt remains black. I changed the yellow on the shirt and braces to a brown, which offers the same dynamic but is more in-keeping with the green and with the dulled down look in general. I also did some versions with a dull lime green as well. And finally, I also dulled down the red in the stripe, or in some versions replaced it entirely with black instead.
* I gave Whittaker slightly longer and more voluminous hair. Hair is the thing that seems to change most throughout Doctors tenures, so I thought I'd represent that here too.
* I didn't get around to it, but I'd also remove or make the earrings more subtle. They pretty much don't show up in these micros though so no need to worry about that too much.
I did so many different variations, in the end I didn't have the heart to remove them all, and just posted all of them, but my top final choice I've posted at the top to signify it's my "official" choice.
I had intended to make a more conventional redesign of Whittaker's costume soon after I made my original 13th Doctor micro and voiced distaste towards it, but alas this never materialised. But now I've gotten more used to the look, I've instead just opted to evolve the original costume. What do you guys think of these looks? Do you prefer one of the bottom looks that I didn't opt for at the top? Do you like my concept in general? Voice off in the comments and give some input. Also if someone who works on Doctor Who stumbles upon this...you know what to do...

Last one on the bottom row was the half finished one I added in as i thought the colours offered a nice contrast from the others, didn't even finish the socks lmao. I nearly scrapped that one, good thing I didn't.
Thanks!
