Description
"Oil on hardboard 60 x 40 cm"Here's a little something I've been working on every now and then for the past few months, whenever I've had the time - which is not very often.
Today, I decided it was time to finish it - especially since the Saturday painters is on autumn break
Based on a Venetian mask that hangs on my wall.
Last time I painted it was in May 2005. [link]
That's right, Masked just turned into a series, folks... who woulda thunk...? ...It may happen, no painting is safe!
(next up in recycled ideas: eerrr...ummm..errr.... the non-rouge moulin??

I don't know if this was your goal but you succeeded in making the mask look lifeless and like an actual mask. I think this effect is mainly a result of good color choices.

Ah, I see
Dave MacKean does have a lot of very impressive work, and I do like him, but don't in any way idolize him, and wasn't really attempting anything that might look like it was influenced by him.
He mainly works with photomanips too - I think.
Thanks for commenting

There's a guy who did album covers in the early 90's who had a similar style and effect with his images.
Can't remember the guys name though

I saw them too on Shades of God tour, although they had a Finnish band for warm up over here.
It was one of the first ever gigs I've ever seen, and I was totally blown away
Joined their fan club too, and received newsletter and ads for years afterwards. They always arrived several months late, as my name had been badly mispelled. I guess my handwriting of the time, was just too demanding to decipher.
Dave MacKean did a lot of work with Neil Gaiman as well!

Yep great memories, I recall there being so much dry ice you couldn't see half the band

Not Dave MacKean by a any chance?
Since, I actually did have some associations mainly to this album cover: [link] aradiselost-shadesofgod.jpg - while painting.
(used to love the album as a teen)
