Needs some explaining... I've been (/was) participating in a drama group called Thespians Anonymous for a good number of years ([link] ).

In September, we had a general "art therapy" -day, in which people were making art just for fun. Quite a few people made clay figures, which ended up being in a short and psychedelic claymation called The Brick Thief You can watch it on YouTube. [link]

It's a captivating tale of a super hero who's lost his body, and a guy who steals bricks in the background! (Please, bear in mind that everything in it was done in one long day. Claymation is not exactly quick...)

I used some of the clay figures like the octopus, the penguin and monkey, as models for the painting.

Acrylics on hard board. Finished all at once, or "alla prima" like they say in the pasta country. I'd be very tempted to add a few layers in oils, but shan't. It would spoil the spontaneity thing, and it would also no longer be the only acrylics-only painting I've done in more than 5 years.
