comment: what I liked in this image is that extra symbolic meaning added to the image by the stairs. The man sits on the bottom of the stairway as he sits at the bottom of society's scale. The composition is well balanced. Though for the rest the image to me is similar to too many others on the same kind or subjects. It is difficult to make pictures like this one (which are situations unfortunately very common, and very often captured by photographers) to really stand out in a meaningful or different, thought-provoking or surprising way, a way that would be able to overcome the inurement we have toward these situations...
The b/w seems to me too grey, and some details unnaturally enhanced. I understand that they add to the impact of the image, though I think the image could use a bit more contrast in the b/w.
