Sometimes the more brilliant minds feel the pressure of social acceptance, even if they never admit it. Fiona Visser had a gift for invention ever since her father showed her how to fix the family TV. A spark was lit that day. But even Fiona, meek and self-conscious as she was, always saw how other girls were, outgoing and popular while gaining all the boy's attention, and she felt envious. Over time she kept up with her studies, winning science awards for her mild inventions, but no matter how she changed her hair or how much makeup she applied, she never managed to reach the same status as the other more popular girls.

Reaching her time in college Fiona had a new sense of life and her future. Gone were the constraints of school. Now the sky was the limit for whom she could win over with her mind or her personality. But her challenges were only beginning, especially after meeting her dormmate Kathryn DeWinter. From the start, Fiona did not like her. She was prettier, had a better sense of how to fit in with the crowd, and just seemed to have everything handed to her without much effort. But Fiona's studies involved robotics and mechanics while Kathryn studied criminology. They would hardly ever see each other.

And indeed, they hardly did. Yet every time they did come face to face Fiona grew more jealous of Kathryn's social success. Things were made no better when the unicorn managed to steal away one of the men Fiona was set upon; the two sharing an algebra class together without her knowing he and Kathryn had a history class with each other. From that day Fiona made a vow: no more.

After many years of study and research, Fion graduated with the highest marks and became involved in nanotechnology development. Despite not seeing Kathryn after that, her hate for the woman and those like her festered over time. Still, she had her work and she kept to it, the technology she worked on was a means of synthesis between people and technology to aid in all manner of world benefiting developments. Her heroic motivations were gained after the arrival of heroes like Purity, the mysterious heroine who protected the city and the world from all manner of threats for the betterment of everyone. Fiona wanted that. She wanted to be a hero.

Desperation for her work finally took a toll after her grant money reached its end. This coddled with yet another attempted romance ending badly had finally broken Fiona. She needed to do one thing-just ONE thing-right. She took her experimental nanites and decided to trial test them on the proper subject: herself. The transformation was painful at first, but soon Fiona's eyes were opened to a whole new world. She could see technology unlike any other, down to the very minute detail and circuitry. The nineties gave her power over them, bending it to her will. They increased her muscle mass, were able to heal any and all wounds on her body, and could absorb energy and electricity like a sponge. But the nanites affected her brain, fiddling with her senses and morality. She felt empowered. She wanted to use it.

Using the tech from her lab, Fion crafted armor and wings to take to the skies. She spotted the first thing she wanted: a handsome man. She forced a kiss on him, infecting his body with the nanites. Not his brain, however. She had total control of his motor functions, forcing him to do whatever she wanted despite the objections.

Fiona was greater than she could ever be. She was a goddess. A cybernetic siren. A....Cyren. And her first task to prove herself: be a better than Purity ever was.
