Description
Arcee from "The Transformers: Robots in Disguise" (RID), an ongoing comic series by IDW, is an Autobot and a merciless and deadly warrior. I find, she is a very awesome and great character. One of my favorites (I only wish, IDW would introduce some more femmes into their stories).Her design turned out magnificent. As well as her humanized version.

OMFG, Love this so much! Almost makes up for her bafflingly awful "origin story" in the series. Thankfully it's pretty much been done away with since and she's basically status quo. Strange, I never imagined her as a ginger(ish) though. The Human color schemes work perfectly.

Lol No. I always have a vague idea (sometimes more, sometimes less) how the human version of a Transformer should look like (at least in my imagination). Then I look through the internet and newspapers to find fitting faces. I avoid faces of famous people.

And you're right. If you take it that way, RID Arcee is actually (more or less) a transgender woman. And I have to admit...it´s something I can´t get used to it. Not because she is what she is, but what IDW did to her character. I mean, why didn´t they create a other, a completly new character ? Why did they had to "twis"t Arcee so much resp. reinvent her once more ?
Actually I love RID and Mtmte, but there are two things that I like less resp. absolutely dislike...First, that IDW declared the Transformers as a genderless alien race (yeah, sure thing *sarcastic laugher*) and secondly, that Arcee (and any other Femme) are failed experiments of a mad scientist...oh, and that the real Ultra Magnus is no longer among the living (and that already for a looong time). This, plus the deaths from well known, main characters...Like Scrapper, Trust, Sunstorm etc.
Now I strayed from the subject. Sorry...XD

Well, when TF reproduction has never had anything to do with gender, I can understand why they would try and do something different with the idea. I am mostly sad that Simon Furman did not get to finish his idea with the story, as I think it would have been something interesting. Not to say that I don't like James Roberts' writing (I have been reading his TF fanfic stuff since I was 11!) but when a creative team changes and a big story like that is done away with, it makes me sad. Also, Arcee is the /only/ Femme in the IDW 'verse, with one very strange exception...
Ultra Magnus's story, I find very interesting. In the IDW comics, we have never known the "Real" Ultra Magnus, so I am not sad about it at all. The one we have read about in every comic except for the Monstrosity etc prequels has been you-know-who.
I also can't help but find it funny to think of Sunstorm as a "well known main character" like Scrapper and Thrust, because he was a nameless nobody in the G1 cartoon and then only in 2 issues of the Dreamwave comic.

Well, I think you have caught me...
Regarding Simon Furman (Guido Guidi etc.)...I became a Transformer fan just three (or four ?) years ago. Since then I read huge amount of Transformer comics. Some stories I found great, some...well, less good. But hitherto, I had relatively little interest in the individual writers (or illustrators). Although, I always remember some particular writers and artists such as René Goscinny and Don Lawrence. These and some others will always be my favorits and remain in my heart and my memories. But on the whole, I am...or better, I was, more of an "ignoramus" as regards the comic writers and -artists.
As for Arcee...To be quite honest; I´m still hoping that she is not the only femme. I still hope they will introduce some more. I can´t lie...I just love the idea that Transformers are male and female.

No shame in being a fan 
I grew up reading the old UK comics, so Simon Furman's writing defined TFs for me for years.
I was hoping that the Simon Furman-planned storyline would go further with introducing the concept of gender to Transformers, and we'd see other femmes, which is why I'm sad we will never see it completed as it was planned. :/ I think you might have liked that story more too.

~most UK TF fans who are old enough were comic fans first, cartoon fans second~ Including me. I love G1. Its so weird, stupid and awesome. ^^ I love Prime too. And Armada resp. Cybertron for his characters (and some awesome episodes), but I think that I love the comics even more (even when it´s not always easy for me to understand everything, my english could be better *sigh*). It´s really a pity, that we hardly can get in german translated Transformers comics in "normal" comic shops. But at least we can buy these comics in german online comic shops...sometimes even in US or UK online comic shops. ^^
But what is worse...It´s totally difficult for me to obtain an overview. I would need a link (or whatever) where all Transformers comics are listed or even better, where I can get them. Every series, every publishers. I got already a lot of different Transformers comics. From Marvel (but not a lot), from Dreamwave (but I´m not sure if I got them all) and from IDW. Some are really difficult to get (like the one from "Fun Publications" or the "Shattered Glass" comics) and I´m still searching for them.
Btw, I have read, that "Windblade", a new femme, will get her own IDW issue next year. I am genuinely curious to see/read her.

There's a (legal) online service called Comixology, but I don't know if they sell non-English versions of anything? Some of my friends who don't live anywhere near a comic shop use it, it lets you download and read comics on your computer legally, and the creators get paid like for a printed issue.
The Transformers Wiki is a very good rescource, you can look via tfwiki.net/wiki/Comics and see if that helps. The "Fun Publications" comics are the Botcon/exclusive ones, but they do get a later release with a different cover, so they should be available, just a bit rarer. I think I own most, maybe all of the Dreamwave TF comics and would consider selling them all.
Windblade is the character that the fan's choice poll voted for! I'm very excited to see what she's like, but apparently she has a samurai type theme, which I find really boring.

You really would consider to sell them ?! I must have a look at my Dreamwave comics on the weekend. I´m not sure, but I think I got most of them as well. But I would be definitely interested at the "Fun Publications" comics. In case you have some more Transformers comics to sell, let me know.
I´m not a huge fan of this samurai doodad either (and for my taste her face is a bit too "colorful"), but at least it´s a femme, a flier on top of that. So I´m quite happy.

I enjoyed my first one very much! I didn't enjoy Mainz as much though, very frustrating and wasps everywhere. :/
I don't have any Fun Pub comics to sell, I'm afraid! I own only one or two, which I got with Botcon toy sets.
I personally would have loved a "non-traditional" Femme, something other than a flier or a bike, but I am happier to see another female TF regardless. Looking forward to seeing what they do with her too.
