Eldest twin daughter of Victoria Teach, Anastasia was born into a life of piracy, a life on the high seas. She loves it, but feels as though she does not belong among the crew for a variety of reasons (such as being sheltered from fighting, being kept safe below deck). For the early years of her life, she felt as though her mother favoured her sister Isabella.

At 22, she was taken from her crew and taken to Ildera, going through an area of deepfog to get away from the scene of crime as soon as possible. Being kept either unconscious or under spell at any time, she was not in a state to resist the corrupting and mutating effect of deepfog. Crystalline horns akin to the deepfog crystals grew from her head, with one seemingly implanted into her forehead. She has not found a way to remove them yet. They do not carry the same corruptive influence as true deepfog crystals. They are a mere mutation. She has been able to use them as her spellfocus.
