Description So yep here is a tutorial on how I color and shade metals and armor!

Alright so
Step1: draw out your character and armor first, kind of have.in mind what your already planning on the color being before hand.

Step2: color in the general base color, i normally start with a neutral color in between the light color and dark color of the desired.

Step3: start to add your dark shading these area's are pretty much just Only areas where the lighting isn't hitting, remember metal (depending on what kind) is pretty shiney so the only dark areas are where the light doesn't hit.

Step4: start to add the lowest lighting color, adding lighting is a process to build up to make it look nice

Step5: add your second layer of lighting this is normally a few shades lighter, add this where the lighting is coming from and kind of scatter it on the first layer as well.

FINAL STEP! Step6: now you add the brightest layer of lighting which is the white, now only add this to where the lighting is the strongest, and on the more defining parts of the metal or armor!
So no you've got a nice peice of metal

ALSO! This can be done with colored pencil and pen! Just do the opposite, don't start dark, start with the lightest color or leave it white and work your way to the darkest shade! Hope this helps you guys out

Remember I take tutorial requests for free, ever want to know how to do something JUST ask!

What program I use: Sketchbook Audodesk: mobile version
Device I use: an old kindle! In just use my finger to draw, color, shade, etc no stylus
