“I think it's about time we start. Wouldn't you all agree?” Ryuk took a large bite of his apple. “Hmm, now who should I make play first? How about you then, you look less terrified of me than the others.” He let out a loud cackle.

“No, I'm sure I'm just as scared of you as they are.” Slightly hesitant to approach a death god, you walked up slowly. You shrunk back a bit as Ryuk held out the wicker basket of items. Just wanting to get away from his large, boring eyes, you grabbed whatever you could and almost ran towards the closet. “I got some suckers that are all tapped together.”

Ryuk flopped onto the couch and started working on another apple. “That sounds like it belongs to you, am I right L?”

“I suppose it does. I should probably go join her in the closet now.” Standing to his feet, L placed his hands in his pockets and slowly walked into the closet. He shut the door behind him and sat down in his signature position.

“I'm sorry I left you like that. Ryuk just freaks me out, with those sharp teeth, and well, all of him is pretty scary actually.” L said nothing in response to your words. He didn't even seem to hear you. “L, are you still with me?”

“Obviously.” He removed his thumb from his mouth and reached for the candy he'd used for the game. “I put two suckers in there so you could have one as well. But if you don't want it, I'll eat it for you.” After peeling off the wrapper and tossing it aside, he placed the sucker into his mouth and stared at you. “So, do you want it?”

To busy wondering how him sitting that way could even be remotely comfortable, you'd missed everything he'd said in the last few seconds. “Want what?” You blushed, trying to keep your mind from straying places it shouldn't.”

L's expression dropped slightly, but was still cheerful. “The sucker.” He pointed. “The one I brought for you. Do you want it or not?”

It was obvious he didn't want you to want it. The flavor wasn't one you were fond of anyway, so you shook your head. “You can have it, I know you live on sugar.” You picked the sweet up from next to you and handed it to L. “Thank you though.”

“You don't need to thank me, you and I both know I actually bought this for myself.” Rubbing his feet across each other in an almost ape like fashion, he continued to speak. “Now, we only have maybe two minutes left in here, if things are timed correctly.” L lifted his head and looked up at the ceiling. “The purpose of this game is clear, and I doubt would have agreed to play unless you actually wanted to. That being said, I also doubt you'd ever do anything unless prompted.” He lowered his head back down and looked at you. “I'm almost positive that I'm correct in my assumption.”

He was correct, about everything, and it showed all over your face in the form of a crimson blush. “W-well, I do want to play, it's just that.” You stopped, not knowing what it was that was actually keeping you from playing the way you wanted to.

L continued to stare at you, expecting a response. “Our time is running out, less than a minute now. I suggest you come up with something.”

Purposely not thinking about your actions first, you quickly leaned in close to L, kissing him on the cheek. “There, I came up with something. It would have been a lot better something if that stupid lollipop wasn't in your mouth.”

The door was opened before you'd even finished your sentence. In the doorway stood a rather amused Ryuk. “Nothing happened? That's not very interesting, it's boring actually.” He shook his head and started to walk away. “Poor L. He may be the worlds greatest detective, but he can't even tell when a girl wants him to put down the candy and kiss her.”
