“Not again.”Directly above your head was the sound of snapping branches and rustling leaves. This was a sound you'd grown very used to as of late. You hadn’t said anything about it yet, simply because you didn't want to upset the person responsible. Today however, that was about to stop. “You can really come down from there now. I can hear the leaves moving, so you really aren't fooling anyone.”

“Are you serious?” Deidara's head popped out from between a thick gathering of leaves. “Hm, how long have you known?”

“Since the first time. You kind of talk to yourself, a lot.” Shuffling your feet, you looked down at them and tried to avoid looking at Deidara. “Why are you following me around anyway? It's weird, and I'm sure you have something better to do.”

He leaned a little further out of the tree, threatening to fall. “Yeah, not really. Everything has been pretty quiet lately, so I figured I'd have a little fun with you. I didn't think you'd hear me though hm. You're a better ninja than I thought you were.”

“W-well thank you, but I really shouldn't be talking to you. Please excuse me.” Not wanting to get in trouble, you quickly turned around and began walking back towards the village.

“Hey wait, don't go yet.” While trying to free himself from the twisting branches of the tree, Deidara fell to the ground with a loud thud. He then scrambled back onto his feet and chased after you. “Why are you leaving so soon hm? You just walked out here. I know you couldn't have done whatever it was you were going to do.”

“True, but I really shouldn't be out here, alone, with an Akatsuki member.” Trying to get away from him before you reached the gate, you sped up considerably.

“Hey, stop, why are you running from me?” Grabbing hold of your hand, Deidara brought you to a sudden stop. “I've never done anything to make you want to run from me. Actually, the only other time we met, we were locked in a closet and kissing, yeah.”His eyes widened in horror. “That's not why you're running is it?”

“N-no, no, that was fine, I mean, I wouldn't run because of that.” Your face was growing hot and you new it must be turning all shades of red by now. “Please Deidara, let me go.” Reluctantly, Deidara did as you asked. “Thank you.” You only managed to take a few steps away from him before looking back. He hadn't moved an inch. “W-why aren't you leaving? Someone's going to see you.”

Deidara shrugged, turning the corner of his mouth up into a crooked smile. “Maybe, but I did come all this way to see you, hm. It would be a shame to walk away when you're still in my sights.” As your jaw dropped, his grin grew.

“Why would you say something like that?” You'd subconsciously started walking back towards him as you spoke. “You're evil, you should be mean, and rude. Why would you say something so sweet and romantic? And most of all, why would you say it to me?” There was no longer any space between the two of you. You were toe to toe, with your nose almost touching his. Once you realized this, you immediately tried to move away from him, your face bright red once again. “I'm sorry about that. I just got a little over excited.”

“A little?” Raising an eyebrow, Deidara did his best not to laugh at you. “Hm, I don't think I've ever heard you talk so much in a single day before. Not that you actually talking is a bad thing. It's just, different. But then again, I really don't know you that well.”

“No, you're right, I'm not usually so vocal.” As you tried to create more distance between you and Deidara, he grabbed your elbow, keeping you close. “What now?”

“I gave you the chance to leave once already. You blew it, and now you're coming with me, like it or not.” His grip on you tightened just slightly as he began to tug at you. Still in shock, you followed him without question. “Wow, I thought you'd put up some sort of fight, hm. I guess you secretly wanted to be captured, which is weird.”

You shook your head vigorously, fighting back the tears that were already welling up in your eyes. “That's not true. I don't want to be captured, but you're obviously stronger than I am, and if you aren't going to let me go, there's no reason to fight.”

“That doesn't make any sense at all. What kind of logic is that?” Confused, and feeling a little guilty, Deidara stopped and stared at you. “Look, my man Sasori would get really mad if I brought you back to the Akatsuki anyway, he doesn't like girls. Why don't you just stay here.” Snorting angrily, Deidara dropped your arm. “Just go back and pretend none of this happened. I won't hide in the trees anymore either, hm.”

His words tore you in opposing directions. “So, if I go back now, I won't ever see you again?”

“Exactly humph.” Obviously becoming agitated, he crossed his arms and prepared to leave you.

As he began to walk away, you quickly deliberated the situation in your head. With the tables now turned, you grasped the back of his shirt. “But, I don't want to never see you again. It's just, I can't go with you, this is my home.” You couldn't remember ever feeling so confused and helpless before. Your eyes were welling up again, threatening to spill over onto your red cheeks. But this time, the reason was completely different.

“Hey, d-don’t cry.” Deidara actually backed away, obviously having no idea how to comfort a crying girl. “Just, think of something happy. You don't need to be crying.” In an awkward, desperate attempt to stop you from crying, he pulled you into his arms and rubbed your head. A few uncomfortable seconds went by before he let you go. “Are you better yet?”

“Yes, I'm better.” You grinned. “But you're all red now. Are you okay?” Still very close to him, you summoned up your courage and placed a soft kiss on his cheek.

“I am not red, hm. And what was that all about? Kissing me, hm. You've really come full circle haven't you?” Though he tried to remain unfazed by your actions, it was apparent that you'd embarrassed him. “Look, you need to make up your mind. I'm not going to have some girl dragging me back and forth like a rag doll, hm. If you want me gone I'll stay gone, but if not, what do you propose I do? So, do you want me to leave or not? ”

You whispered your answer. “Not.”

“I wasn't expecting that, but okay. We need a plan or something then, so we can see each other without other people knowing.” He thought for only a second before he'd figured it out. “Fireworks. I'll shoot fireworks anytime I want to see you, yeah.”

“Okay, that sounds good to me.” you nodded happily.

“Then I'll do that, hm. I'm gl-.”

“Senpai.” A loud annoying voice cut Deidara's words short. “Senpai, where are you?”

“Why Tobi?” All the joy drained from Deidara's face as he looked at you with pleading eyes. “Don't tell him I was here.” After placing a kiss directly on your lips, he was scooped up by one of his large clay birds, leaving you alone to deal with Tobi.

You sighed inwardly as you saw Tobi running towards you. “Thanks a lot, you jerk.”
