Well, sure?
All these "Until I See You Again" submissions are part of the same story. It's about the genderbent Edd and Marie who keep finding each other through time, as they are "cursed" and keep reincarnating after death. There's often so much time inbetween their rebirths, they become part of entirely new worlds or come back as some kind of new specie that inhabits that new Earth. Things can turn out very surreal, but more often than not, they're regular humans in a recognizable human world.
The genderbent Edd is usually the one who remembers all her previous lives and tries to find back her partner, though there are enough instances where they both don't remember. Still, they always manage to cross paths eventually, it's part of the curse.
The story itself begins on a different Earth in a previous universe where more fairy tale-like creatures existed together with humans.
A human boy falls in love with a fairy girl and follows her around for many years, trying to win her respect and love. While this girl felt too good for humans and never hid her disdain for him, she tolerated his presence for the most part and took the opportunity to abuse his kindness and willingness to serve her. But eventually she grew tired of his undying devotion. His laid back response to her bully tactics and insults didn't make it worth doing it anymore, and she turned him into a monster, because she could. She had an arrogant, rotten personality, and it didn't help that she was destined to become the arch-fairy. She had more power than anyone else and received constant worship from her people.
This fairy was the genderbent Edd, Ann, and the human was the genderbent Marie, Larie. That's the twist, I suppose. The monster transformation infected his mind as well, which was done on purpose; since he used to be an unusually kind person. His new body forced him to roam about and slaughter living creatures for no real reason. He wasn't able to do much about it, except steer his actions towards the fairy race and become their number one enemy. He attacked them for many generations, as the curse also gave him near-immortality and he discovered early on he was unable to kill himself in order to become free.Β Thousands of years later, the fairy that cursed him got reincarnated, which is a normal occurrence in said fairy race, and Larie was quick to recognize her face, but still couldn't get himself to kill her as revenge. Especially since the girl acted different and didn't recognize him.
Long story short, she grows up, keeps secretly meeting with him, he regains his ability to speak and think thanks to her influence, she falls for him, she helps him transform back, he appears to have still aged over the years and looks like a 70 year old man, but she doesn't care, but the spirit of her former self is ashamed and angry by her decision to love the one she cursed and curses her as well, thus herself, and that leaves us with the plot where the both of them can never stay in the afterlife and are either haunted by the idea they'll never find each other, or in Ann's case, gets to meet with a dangerous Larie who doesn't know who she is and does not yet care for her enough to protect her from himself.
Marie/Larie's unpleasant and violent behaviour are remainders of his monster curse; so whenever Ann hasn't been a part of his youth, the chance he becomes a murderous criminal increases.
I know this was quite the story, seems irrelevant, but it really is important to know if you wish to write for the story in this submission. Unless you're planning to make it a separate thing.
Here Larie is the one who remembers his previous lives, but Ann doesn't. Larie starts off overcome with guilt over the things he's said and done to her in these previous lives, and it doesn't help that he's unable to find her during his childhood to apologize. He grows up becoming a pretty bitter teenager, but when he's sent to an all-boys school, fate gives Ann as his roommate. Nevertheless, she's now a boy, which outright angers him. He's heterosexual and all, so he feels he can't be with her and is being taunted.
He's often conflicted about how to approach Edd and tries to give himself hope by making himself believe he isn't Ann, but finds that difficult to do with all the facial similarities and recognizable personality traits. Still, he pretty much becomes Edd's bully, but at the same time, beats up other people that bully Edd. Eventually Edd becomes so upset with his mixed messages that he demands an explanation, thus Larie attempts to explain the whole reincarnation thing to him and starts apologizing for the way he treated him in these other realities. Naturally, he's not taken seriously.
Edd thinks he's playing him for a fool, and with the bullying that's been going on, suggests it's better if they both got a different roommate. Larie agrees to stay somewhere else in the meantime, but after the reveal, Edd starts getting some deja vus during the nights. He doesn't try to think too deeply about it, but does start to feel guilty over having sent Larie away, as he thinks he was more genuine than he initially thought and might just be grieving over someone's death. He assumes he looks similar to a girl Larie might've lost in the past, and offers to talk with him about it, if that emotionally relieves him.
Larie understands he's not believed, but accepts his offer and takes the opportunity to try again and build up a relationship with him. They eventually become best friends, though Larie still appears to want more out of their relationship at times, which startles Edd. As for Larie.
You may give an ending to that.

I love this piece the most because it looks to be the most playful of the AUs, or situational romance...or however you'd like to call it

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does one of those papers under Larie's bed read "I'm sorry we died"?

No, I'd say it's a complex romance. As Larie doesn't identify as homosexual, he feels conflicted enough to snarl at the genderbent reincarnation of his girlfriend. But sure, he ends up feeling guilty over it and explains himself to Edd, but as a man of logic he doesn't believe much of it, despite getting some deja vus, but the conclusion is that they'll end up together anyway.
That's pretty much the deal with all these stories.
