I love looking for symbolism in drawings, it's an odd hobby but to me it's fun. I mean come on, people find stamp collecting fun so it's only fair.
Black can also mean that he feels hopeless, or even lost. X is pretty mysterious, and constant tests performed on him might make him feel a little too mysterious for his sanity.
Now if only I can put symbolism into my drawings. ^^
