I wonder if it can be assumed that the local mail coach has just been informed that they may stand and deliver -- for she is the bold deceiver as the song says. I hope this is not a far more rigorous method of clearing the path than the one Crocodile Dundee used to move a recalcitrant ox out of the road.Β

I mean that you might be holding up the mail coach by assuming that stance in the road. I was thinking of the old Irish Ballad 'Whiskey in the Jar" done by many artists.
