Description
Illustration for a card game call BADASS: SPADES and GRENADES . Based on historical figures of various kinds, I had to work on the characters that belonged to Africa and the Middle East. Not necessarily. There is a wide range of skin tones in Egypt today, and this seems to have also been true in ancient times. There's really no way to know. Although I have noticed a tendency for lighter skin in the northern part of Egypt, and ranging darker the closer you get to Sudan. My mind's eye tends to default to olive skin tones, personally.

I do like the idea that she was more of a warrior than most people recognize. We know she led military campaigns in Nubia and the Middle East for instance.

I didn't know so much about her. But since I had to do a portrait I discovered a really strong female historical character, and was a really pleasure paint it.
