Description
Sort of a little experiment. Tried for a more "airbrushy" feel. I usually use the paintbrush almost exclusively, which probably accounts for my usual watercolor look.I also wanted to color the lineart itself (so that the lineart would blend with the colors more naturally) but can't figure out a way to do it in Gimp... If anyone can point me towards a good tutorial (photoshop, or gimp), I'd appreciate it!

I think I like your other style better than this one. Still good though...

Très joli travail sur les couleurs en particulier. J'aime bien aussi la manière dont le personnage s'inscrit dans le cadre, un peu décentré. J'ai quelques doutes au sujet de son oreille, cela dit.

hot! but usually wetsuits zip in the back, but that'd ruin the effect you were going for.

I saw quite a few in my short research... A lot zipped more to the side... Probably the majority zipped in the back as there was no apparent zipper in frontal shots...
Anyway, thanks!

To color lineart, at least in photoshop, all you have to do is go to your lineart layer and lock the transparency (click on the little 'transparency' icon on the locking list) and then paint over the lineart with whatever color you want.

Do you set the white of your lineart layer to alpha before doing thi? I just set my lineart layer to 'multiply' mode, so I don't know how this would work out... At least, it gives me something to try out...
I didn't even know what that 'lock' thingy was for!

What I usually do is:
scan my lineart and load as a jpg
go into 'channels', choose a channel (doesn't usually matter which) and click the dotted circle at the bottom to load the channel as a selection --- it will then select all the white area, so I select inverse to get the black area (the lineart), and make a couple new, blank layers.
I fill the top layer with black (keeping the lineart selected, so that the only thing that fills is that) and then de-select and fill the bottom layer with white or a working background color. Then I keep whatever the top layer is as my lineart layer, and if I need to mess with it or want to color it, it's super easy.

NP!
Also, one resource that is really good, IMHO, is the Photoshop Classroom in a Book. When I took Photoshop class that's what we used and there is so much random info, tips, trick, etc. in there that are really handy. And it's really comprehensive and user friendly.
