I don't know if I get this one.
My thought was about a pregnant woman who then suddenly has a flat belly again but no child. or something like that.

I feel as if this is a good platform to build a brilliant story, like I can imagine this guy loving this woman who has recently been widowed... and they have a kid, but the kid isn't there right now and it's just the two of them there.
That's how I interpret it. I am in quite a lovey-dovey mood, I have to say. >.<

I think I understand. When told about his fatherhood, he says "your" instead of "our" child. And he asks "where" instead of "Why". He is totally detached on the subject of his own kid. Am I very wrong?

Interesting interpretation; this is about a friend of mine who had a stillborn baby. Everyone saw her pregnant and then after the delivery her reaction to that question was more than they expected.
