The taxonomic status of some of them is disputed - because of how closely related and internally diverse many of the ancient human populations were, it's often hard to decide whether anatomically differing populations were separate species, subspecies, or races. For example, it was proposed to eliminate "Homo heidelbergensis" and reclassify some of the skeletons as Homo bodoensis, and others as early Neanderthals. It is also disputed whether Homo ergaster should be its own species, or just a population of Homo erectus. The incompleteness of many remains also doesn't help. So take this lineup with a grain of salt - some of the names may become outdated very soon.
