I can't deny I get influenced by a lot of artists, but I rarely do fanart....don't know why, i like a LOT of characters.....maybe i'll post some more fanart....(i been dyin to draw Jin and Mugen...)this one is a little dated, i did this when i heard they were casting the ever-so-beastlike Ron Perlman as HB.....so...well over a year or two ago...anyway...when I did this I think I copped more of Mignola's style than I'd have liked, but I think it's forgiveable, given my Hellboy-craze at the time...

i dunno...to me Hellboy often looks like someone took the blueberries out of his pambcakes, or like he lost his favorite pencil....just always a little grim....so yeah, intentional, i spose

i don't thinkit's that mignolia influenced. something that you have to remember is that it's mignolia's creaton and unlike most other characters there's something uniquley his about hb.

good point...after posting this i reviewed over some of mignola's work and decided that the line was nowhere near crossed when i did this....and yes, he's in a world of his own, i love his art.

indeed, indeed. have you seen his hellraiser art work? he did a pin up for the first or second graphic novel of clive barker's hellraiser comic book. it's amazing, surprizingly detailed for him.

i have....a lot of people tend to pigeonhole mignola into his "style" (ingenious and skillful as it is) but they tend to forget his versatility.
although in my mind he'll always be the guy who uses black like the Terminator uses automatic weapons.....he uses it a lot and with a high degree of accuracy.

Fanart is great to do from time to time. I find it inspiring. Great pic! This is water color again isn't it? Sw337 mad awsome.
