Description
"Beetch."i wanted to try a few new coloring techniques and brush styles (as well as draw with paper and pen again) so i did a quick bit with Gogo gettin all up in the grill of Leesha, Andy's cousin. (I beefed up Gogo's arms again because I wanted more definition to practice shading on, and because i think it fits the "bully" m.o.) I'm still a n00b at coloring like this but it's pretty fun and more organic than my usual cut-and-fill style...
Since she's part of Andy's family, Leesha's effectively beyond Gogo's reach in terms of causing harm, but that don't mean they can't glower at each other. I love a good stalemate.

Exactly how tall IS gogo? Leesha may have taken on a bit more than she can handle, antagonising the animal wife.
Also figured you'd find it amusing that it's become a household prank to leap out of the bathroom, shouting that one needs a hacksaw and like a million bandaids.

someone else asked that too. It's hard to figure stats for imaginary characters with fluctuating physical properties but i'd put her dimensions at 6 feet and a couple hundred pounds of hyper-dense bomango. Like an elongated chimp, a ton of power crammed into too small of a container
Leesha comes from the machiavellian schoolgirl cutthroat chain of command, where gogo comes from the alpha she-wolf frame of mind. I think it's an interesting confrontation, since neither really has the drop on the other. Leesha couldn't hope to put a dent in the "animal wife", and Gogo couldn't smash her face in without severe repercussions.
What an obscure (and funny) household prank! HUZZAH!

Does Andy have parents? O.o
I know I've seen his uncle.
And Gogo is leet.
She would make Leesha explode with like...an apple slice or something. xD

good question. Andy does have a mother, who i should really post sometime
i'd love to see an apple slice used as a combustible weapon

Yeah, you should do a strip with Gogo interacting with Andy's family, like maybe a dinner scene in a public diner or something along the lines.
Oh the antics that could ensue!

Your description makes me curious as to how Andy and Gogo met, and what circumstances led to Gogo becoming a live-in guest. Should be quite a tale.

If I remember correctly, Gogo's a janitor at an apartment building Andy's uncle owns.

Gogo is sooo cool and scary~! I think the softer look is good in the skin and hair, but the clothes begin to look a little plasticine because clothes just don't have that much value; they look rounder than they really are.
*waits anxiously for more Gogo*

VanHeist In reply to rio-armare [2009-04-06 02:50:57 +0000 UTC]
that's a very good point. Clothes are a little tricky...maybe a gentler gradient effect next time rather than trying to over-define each fold. Thanks!

Perhaps the contrary, i find that clothes have closer to only 3-4 values and tend to look more realistic-ish with fewer values. Perhaps you need to define them more. 8D Like the ones in Gogo's middle.

hmm - well, i ain't no soft-colouring genius, but I've always found that celling in the shading values and then painting over the top is a great way to be sure that you have a definite light source. Otherwise light sources tend to run off while painting.
Using coloured values set to multiply while painting is also helpful, as you get way more tonal variety with painting than you do with celling. I find a bit of green and purple helps contrast the reddy skin tones - =exileddelusion and =Bilious have some great ideas about this.

In short it is WHICKED.
Also I like the new character. Miss Swift will definitly make a great addition to your repetoire of awesome characters.

Woot for beautiful shading and lighting! ^__^ This is an awesome pic, you got the arm muscle tones perfect and I love how the hair is shaded ^_^. Plus the pose is really good, I love how Gogo has that 'if I could you'd be in many pieces' look.
