Description Stained Glass Design for the Cathedral of Saint Eemia the Brave - Santa Banana, California

On this Thanksgiving Day 2009, we should all ponder things we are thankful for. At least that's the case here in the USA where we have this holiday, and where we have so many things to be thankful for.

But, enough of that. I really came here to tell you about my latest commission, a project which I've been undertaking with some excitement. I know, I know. You might say: "Why would anyone commission this guy?" But sometimes they do, oddly enough. And who am I to refuse the call to duty, especially when it comes from an august personage?

Dreams are funny things, and sometimes they present us with remarkable spectacles that defy explanation. When I was asked by the Arch Bishop of Utopia to design a monumental stained glass window to adorn the new Cathedral of Saint Eemia the Brave here in Santa Banana, I was, to say the least, both honored and flabbergasted. I mean, really: this is the largest commission I've undertaken since the Amdy Warple Portrait Quilt designed to cover Manhattan. [link]

Pondering design ideas that evening, I fell asleep while brushing my teeth. Saint Eemia herself appeared to me, riding on a cloud of daisies with a lily in her hand. Descending into a green field, she began to speak, and reminded me of the Parable of the Dentacles from the Second Book of Occlusiasticus, wherein the prophet says: "Go ye forth among the daisies. Sow ye tentacles in the fields. Their wriggling shall be joyful, and bring glad tidings."

The cathedral design specification calls for a stained glass window behind the altar measuring approximately six meters high by 7.3 meters wide. When the Cathedral is finished, sometime in the second half of 2012, I'll be sure to snap a picture from inside and post it here for all you deviants. Meanwhile, you can see the design and think about how awe-inspiring it will look when it's complete.
