I see this looks like it's part of your comic story? The serious stare down on the silver shine seems like it's taking over his thoughts, I never seen josh like this before. I really like the foreshadowing around him making the medal a main focus, the posing of him in flight or floating it's like he's dreaming this or his nightmare.

It's interesting to see how Josh has turned into a deep and serious chara, keeping in mind how you used to draw him before, and trust me, I'm not complaining, I like seeing charas go trought this kind of changes.
The drawing itself is beautiful, the shading is amazing, I like how dark it is and the source of light comming from the medal.
Josh's pose is awesome, it's like he's floating and I like a lot how you did the wings.

Well, he did start off as a random background character. And to be honest, now that I think of it, he changed the whole plot of the comic quite a lot; Drake is still the main character, of course, but Josh adds a LOT.
And he was a complicated character ever since I figured his role and story out, which is... quite a while ago, to be honest! I just didn't want to draw too many pictures about him since it could be a spoiler...

It's called foreshadowing in English but I believe you are right. Maybe it's just a reverence to how both came in second in the race but I think it's either showing that that was a very harsh blow for him and that it will continue to tread it's way through the storyline or some event in the not too near future that will hit him hard. It could also be something like a glimpse of his past? He was shown to once have been a happy child after all so it would make sense for the backstory to get at least some hints during the comic, too.
