Description
This is attempt for the cover for Autodeskยฎ Revit Building in The creative team at Autodesk Inc.The goal: to create a render where the emphasise is to focus the people's attention on the geometry as objects. The idea is that behind the render there is actual data - the windows of that particular building are existing brand that produce and sell windows, the doors, the frames the beams, everything. That is what is Revit Building supposed to be designed for.
My job: Autodesk provided me with the geometry of the building - straight out of Revit Building I guess (dwg format). I worked on the geometry, the lighting, the materials and the camera angles of the building (the critical suggestions from the team helped me a lot) using only my 3ds Max (no aditional textures, materials, ext). They wanted me to come up with idea how to show the objects, that is why some architects and related might notice the weird cut in the middle of the bilding and behind. I provided the rest of the creative team with a bunch of renders form different angels with different lighting.
Creative team job: where they are supposed to choose the best shot for the cover for the software. Then they will composite couple renders including the main render and couple others that will fulfill the goal.
Software I used: 3ds Max 8, Vray 1.47 and Photoshop for some color corrections.
My comment on that piece: uhmm, I am pretty new in the architectural renders. Honestly that is my first serious architectural work and I don't really know if the light is very correct (ah well). I tried to get for the pool render a light you are supposed to have at noon in spring/fall sunny day. On the others is like an hour or so before sunset.

Thanks mate! and because I am getting kind of crazy about interpolation, aliasing and stuff so the big render took like 8-10 hours... I am saying kind of crazy because I might get ver simillar result for less time but I want to make sure is nerly the best I can get out of max...and then some post work in photoshop for an hour or so... thanks stopping by mate!

hehe I could! thanks man! you can export as DWG from rivit and import in both programs, prefferably max tho.

wow thanks for the tip. Yea Ive heard max is much better for importing revit and auto cad although I kinda wanted to use Maya as I did a Diploma of Screen 2 years back and am more skilled in Maya. Wish me luck! PS. Let me know if you make a tutorial.

cool, very nice modelling. good use of lighting and shadows. would of been nice to include a person perhaps so we could really get a sense of scale and perportion. again very nice...wish i could do that!

my comment :
really nice work for an exterior archie 1st time job..
every aspect is sure eyecatching.. but my crits is on the plants/tree..
their still way too constant/flat material.. try crop some real photo for a better presentation
keep it up dude.. long time no see ur new work

hehe I like how you say "my comment". maaan it is fun...they don't let me use nothing but max..barely convinced them to use a HDR haha. These trees are straight from max AEC extended>foliage you know.. they suck that is for sure... If I had time I will photoshop something in there just to get better look.
and yeah dude...as I sayd I will post only top quallity (well for my skills at least). I want to make something real cool kinda stuck these days.

the little images are good! but the big one have a extreme perspective and the water looks to much blue!
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
vankata In reply to aptoverde [2006-11-09 20:14:55 +0000 UTC]
yeah I notices that. But maybe is because the texture of the tiles of the pool is too dark. I mean the water itself is really transparent - technically should be correct...I will always remember that quote "If the light look wrong, it is wrong" meaning we shouldn't trust the programs so much but aw well...I feel like you are right about the water!
As for the perspective they forced me to do something like that. I kind of like it but the aberation kills :S
thanks comenting man! I love critiques like that...I mean I hate somebody critiquing to tell you the inperfections just to make you feel bad...and haha I don't really feel bad cause you know...there is always something wrong. Or stuff like "it is perfect" aren't very precise

Damn x_x That's awesome~ The only thing I can pick out is that the water looks a bit too dark. Other than that, this is nuts

hehe yeah...but the bottom of the pool is dark...maybe that is what makes you feel like is too dark anyways, thanks!
