Description
So here is my final film from Sheridan College! I kept holding out for the day I would get some time to tweak some tiny things that were bugging me before uploading it here, but I kept not having time and now that four months have passed I might as well just go ahead and put it here. XD I can always go back and reupload if I retouch it at some point in future!This film was a ton of fun, I learned so much while I was making it (I'd never so much as touched Maya or AfterEffects before starting that course in Computer Animation at Sheridan, but I feel pretty confident with them both now).

Everything else (concept, designs, storyboards, modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting, compositing, etc) - Me
Software - Autodesk Maya 2012, Mudbox, Adobe photoshop, AfterEffects, and Premiere

This... THIS IS AWESOME!! The funny thing is, when I first saw him put that stone into the ground, I immediately thought of the talismans from Jackie Chan Adventures. XD Still, this video was awesome, and I love the little story it implies. I'd love to see it turned into a full movie or something like that, perhaps a series of short films made by you to tell one big story? How long did it take you to make this (NOT counting the time you were holding out)? And do you do commissions for videos like this? I doubt you do, but I think it's worth asking.

Oh maaaaaan Jackie Chan Adventures, I remember that show!! Blast from the past, dang XD I'd forgotten it til now.
I wouldn't mind continuing this story on, though it gets tricky the more characters and sets I introduce. This took about five months of nonstop full-time work, all told... because I was in school and this was basically all of my classes I could afford to dedicate myself to it completely, but now that I have a job I'd have to tackle my own projects in my spare time (which I have significantly less of :C ). I don't think I'll ever take commissions for films like this, although there's always a chance of it if I ever find myself between jobs and I get a good offer...
Anyway, thanks! I'm glad you like it, and I do hope to continue this story one day (I really enjoyed working on this).

Glad to hear it, and yeah, I heard about/saw a commercial for that show a few years ago and was like "Oh yeah! That was the show that introduced me to Jackie Chan! I remember him being interviewed by those yellow guys from MIB on having his own cartoon around the time it started airing on Kids WB!" A while later, I watched a few of the first episodes on Netflix Instant Play just for nostalgia's sake. XD I STILL think that show has some brilliant elements, such as the idea behind the Talismans, the bladed boomerang that shows up later (first weaponized boomerang I ever saw, and I instantly fell in love, although I'm not exactly an enthusiast about such things now XD), and the freaking hilarious comedic action the show and Jackie himself are known for. And we can't forget that one line that he never actually says outside the show for some reason "Bessy bessy bessy!!!" and we CERTAINLY can't forget... Uncle...

Best old man uncle character in anime/cartoons EVER. XD
And now that I think about it, the Jackie seen in the show not only looked very different from the real one, but he even sounded kind of different too, almost like the accent was a bit forced. Doesn't that seem kind of odd to you? I wonder what they were thinking when they changed Jackie's design in the show. XD

Congratulations on the DD, Varethane! I watched the video at work the other day and forgot to comment when I got home, but it's fantastic. I loved the mood in the piece, and your style is fantastic. Gave me a Shadow of the Collossus kind of feel, if you don't mind my saying so, but I'm not sure why, as the short is very unique looking.
Again, fantastic work. Hope to see more animation work from you!

Thanks! (: Haha, a few people now have said that it reminded them of Team Ico games, which I cannot see as anything other than a compliment (I love those games so much, ahh). It's probably the mist effect and the geometric patterns on the clothing that evoke it specifically.
I do have another animation from the program I'm planning to upload soon, I just need to update the sound, though that's all I have finished for the moment until I maybe get a chance to update my demo reel. I'm not stopping anytime soon, though!

Very nice one
One thing just need a little correction - timing of character movement and steps. I know it's difficult, but when we first see the boy he sometimes slides a bit when 'walking'.

Yeah, there are a few things I could have tightened up further, and a couple of things I wanted to add... if I ever get some time to sit down and work more on this, I'll definitely try to clean that up!
