Description
Here is a progress shot of a long, LONG awaited commission for , which as you can see in the Navigator thumbnail, is a three-part illustration. This is a good indication of the conditions I have to work with. My computer is rather old, and as long-time watchers would know, not in the best of shape. To "optimize" my CS3's capabilities, my history only goes as far as 5 states, and I have to knock down the number of layers a piece has at any given time. Basically, if I need to commit to a particular amount of rendering, I have to commit, and if I need to change anything, I'll have to paint over a considerable deal. Oh, and SAVE OFTEN!!!
Complaints? No. These are lessons I learned, some the easy way, some hard, over the course of this and many other works. Maybe one day, I'll be able to afford a much better computer, and a tablet that allows me to use pressure sensitivity consistently. Maybe some of you work with better conditions, and some of you may have it even worse. But what I will tell you is that it's not just in your hardware, but the amount of work you put into a piece that contributes to its final quality. Put it simply, make the absolute most of what you have!
As for this commission, it's nearly done, so I'm feeling more confident in showing off its progress here. The armor details are done with custom-made brushes, with some additional painting thrown in for lighting adjustments.
