Description
One of my good friends asked me what all the CISPA hubub was about.This was the best way I could describe it.
Only it's not just a nightmare, it's real life.

Especially since the Patriot Act hasn't even expired yet...
And since we already have laws covering this stuff. If it does pass I bet the crypto-anarchists will get really angry.

I'm too disillusioned. None of these politicians actually care about what we want. They just say they do when it is election time so we vote for them then once in office they do what they want to help their lobbyist friends.

no they dont care however beacuse they want to look good during election years if we get enough poeple together they will listen so that they look good. thats why we have to put the presure on. for every person that sighns a petition a politition sees that as one less person who will vote for them if they dont pay atention.

I may knuckle under and write some letters to a couple senators and representatives but my gut tells me that it will all go to the ol' circular inbox file.
I know they are gung ho on warrsantless wiretapping and really eager to have a moral war on online piracy... I also know that usually this sort of moralistic platform stuff can be a distraction from other kinds of screwups to get people's minds off it. So part of me wonders what could really be going on behind this kind of junk, or what it might be smokescreening our attention away from...

that is the problem what i see is that without the need for a warent the government can arest poeple and detain them. the other isue is that this is whats known as a super law one the usurps all other laws that might have otherwise nagated it.

Yeah, and the bad news is I think it won't have as much outcry as the time that one State's supreme court said it was okay to use GPS tracking bugs on people's cars without needing a warrant. what happened there was enough people were upset by it that later the decision got reversed. The justification for why placing bugs on suspects' cars without needing a warrant to do so was "okay" for awhile was that you do not have a "reasonable expectation of privacy" on the outside of a vehicle. There's a reason CISPA reminds me of some of the hidden exploits in the NDAA budget for 2012 and the Patriot Act though...
broad new powers... altering the existing law so that any laws contradicting the new law don't count...
