Haunting, heartbreaking, eery, and at times downright terrifying, Pan’s Labyrinth wasn’t the movie I thought it was going to be when I started watching it, but ended up being so much better. Truly a unique and special film.

It’s the highest-grossing Spanish language movie in US box office history. Oddly enough, Doug Jones spoke none of the language before taking on the titular role. He had to learn it (enough to know and understand his own lines, as well as those of his costars) before shooting.
