80’s horror films were predominantly slasher flicks like Elm St and Friday the 13th, but Hellraiser was a beast all its own. The Lead Cenobite, often called “Pinhead” (though Clive Barker HATES that name) was so visually and viscerally striking that he made me physically uncomfortable, and the overall story was so unique in its creepiness that it holds up better than many gore-fests from that era.
