here is an animated explanation:

i've made this to show the diversity of what used to be called "Soviet Russia"...

Talk about a painful flag to make.

Close enough.

Still, this flag - along with Turkmenistan's - is on the "Only-Carpet-Makers-Can-Make-This-Flag-Correctly" group of flags.

yes.
BTW technically i did not mined it to be a flag for it own, it's rather just a mix of several flags.

Interesting! A swasticized redstar... A bit similar to Arkaim plan from the air.

yes, a little bit like a коловрат.
fortunatelly USSR had 15 republics [at least in its last years], if the Karelo-Finnic republic would survive as a constituent entity i would have a problem basing thе monogram on a 5-pointed star.

Very interesting, but unfortunately I don't read Cyrillic script and you didn't explain the spokes wheel on the left (although since there are 15 spokes I imagine that they represent the 15 republics in one country)

thanks for fav!

yes, the symbol on the left is a representation of the abbreviation of the name of the country: "СССР", where "Р" is for republic, and since there were 15 of them, it is repeated 15 times.

i have made the СССРРРРРРРРРРРРРРР monogram this shape mainly because of aesthetical reasons, although it may have some resemblance with "kolovrat", a purported ancient Slavic pagan symbol.

furthermore, three republics are excluded from the "С" symbolizing союз 'Union' - they are three Baltic republics, which have rather been annexated into the USSR during the II world war than joined the Union. these three countries were also never part of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
