Ok, after a somewhat painful go of it, I think I've finally go it right. Thanks to everyone who tried to help.photo manipulation -> airbrushing -> vectorized
It's Winry, but not like she's drawn in the anime. I mean, what's the point if you're not going to add your own personality?

someone pointed out that her lips looked weird and upon closer inspection i decided that they were right and i tried to fix them: changed the shape, position, color and opacity.

well i don't like how most anime characters have tiny lips or no real lips at all....so i gave her real lips hehehe. actually i had a model pose as her and then i sketched based off of the model and a screen cap.
